As planned Mal was to accompany Evie to Auradon. The two were not friends, but recently they had been talking and were building a nice friendship.

"Are you ready?"

The purple girl asked in front of the Evil Queen's daughter's house

"Yes, if you want to go to her house to get ready, you can go."

"I'm already dressed up."

She looked at herself. Leather pants, boots and her hair were loose.

"Are you sure? Not even a little blush?"

"No, I'm fine."

"You who knows, shall we?"

"Yeah." The two walked through the empty streets of the Island going to the agreed upon location with Ben. "You must be crazy to take that off." Mal spoke up helping her.

"You have no idea, mom keeps nagging her, because I don't like going out like that."

"Your mom is pretty vain, huh?"

"More than you know. She sold our couch to buy Gothel hair cream. The cream is wonderful, but sometimes I think it should have some limit."

"If you get that bandage off your leg, you could go with me and the boys down to the docks tomorrow."

"What are you going to do there?"

"Fight with Uma and the pirates, what else would we do?"

She asked as if it was pretty obvious

"It might be nice. I wonder if he'll be long, I'm starting to feel cold."

He asked about Ben. It was really cold inside this island and it only got worse at night.

Ben still hadn't gotten used to doing the wrong things. The boy was sweating because again he had taken control of the magic barrier without his father, the king of Auradon, knowing.

His current plan was quick and effective. He would take Evie at night to Auradon and drop her off at her grandfather's hut, just like the first time. Doug was covering for him so that no one would feel his absence at school, as he would have to spend the night with Evie in the village. Unlike before, the town was too busy and he would not be able to take her to the hospital where she had been seen first, so he asked, indeed almost begged Doug's cousin to remove the bandage from the girl's leg herself and run the necessary tests. Although, she was a student and not a doctor, a request from the king's son, made her, swear she would be there at 6:30 am the next day.

Knowing the way, he reached the bridge and quickly crossed it. Unlike the first time he had his own car and didn't need to be so afraid.

When he stopped the car in the darkest part, near an even darker tunnel, his headlight was able to illuminate two people in front of him. A glimmer of hope rose from the boy.

When he got out of the car, he saw his theory proved. It was Mal. Inevitably the smile appeared on his face when he saw her standing next to Evie.

"Hi, good to see you."

He said happily, but his gaze was on Mal, even though she was worried about why he was always smiling like that.

"You too Ben."

Evie replied with the same smile as his.

Mal wanted to understand how the two of them could smile so broadly, didn't their jaws hurt?

"Are you going too Mal?"

The boy asked, trying not to sound as cheerful as he really was.

"Yes, if you don't mind."

What she wanted to say was that she would go anyway, however she used what fragile kindness she had. The lessons with Lady Tremaine

"No, of course you can go. Shall we go then?" He helped Evie into the back of the car and when he tried to be a gentleman and open the door for Mal, he received the car door in his face as a response. He knew he certainly wouldn't receive an apology for the accident. "Well, I thought you guys could stay at my grandfather's cabin and tomorrow morning Clara will come see you Evie, what do you think? "He asked just after the barrier opened and in quick seconds closed again.

"I don't see a problem, that's fine with me."

Her mother was with the other women playing bingo. Possibly she would not miss her daughter.

Ben kept looking at the mirror waiting for an answer from someone else who was looking away.

"Huh? That's fine with me too."

Evie had to nudge the girl to notice Ben waiting for an answer. Mal was interested in understanding how magic acted on the barrier.

In a few minutes they arrived at the old house they stayed in the first time they came to Auradon. Ben texted Doug to make sure everything was okay and yes, Fairy Godmother didn't suspect anything, after all he was the example boy.

"If you guys are hungry there's pizza on the table."

Ben said, as he turned on the lights in the small house

The girls didn't let him say it again and went to sit down to eat the Auradonian food.

"What's that?"

Evie asked picking up a red pot.

"That's ketchup, some people like to put on their pizza."

He explained to Evie.

"But it's hard to open, right?"

In a moment of difficult explanation Ben went to the table to help Evie open the jar of sauce and in that time his hand touched Mal's, who was also going to try to open the jar for her friend.

That small touch generated a strange electricity in both of their bodies. Benjamin's arms went with a shiver, and this shiver went down his body's spine. The little Maleficent felt a strange warm sensation burning in her heart and brought her hand up to her chest to check if she was all right. Brief seconds both of them were stuck to each other, as though they somehow were drawn close to each other.

"Is everything okay with you two?"

Evie who watched only the hands touching each other, and the strange looks, asked trying to understand.

The book having to cut pages also had to advance several events, including their magic story, which if it had gone as originally would have taken place a few weeks from now.

"Be it the simplest skin contact or the deepest touch. Nothing compared to this. It was that thing when you look at someone and say it's love at first sight, but in them just looking wouldn't be enough.

It was supposed to be simple and unpredictable as the whole story would be.

Mal took his hand and felt that burning sensation, that was a lack of a feeling she had always wanted. Benjamin felt that chill, because even though he knew the most perfect thing in the world, nothing compared to what he felt in that moment."
