Ep. 12 "Party With The Zeros" Ch. 5/6

The bags were abruptly removed from their heads, being pushed into a balcony where they would all be the centre of attention in the room.
At least this time, they were the ones looking down on the other Zeros and not the other way around. But how much better were they faring when the Zeros below dressed in classic Mexican getup all had glasses of various liquors and some apéritifs in hand while they had nothing.
Joy couldn't even remember the last time she had an apéritif and wasn't only eating for survival and not enjoyment.
"Zeros!" All the curious chatter over the group died out as Escorpion called out from the opposing balcony, eyes falling on him instead.
"Our queen, La Reina de la Muerte, demands your attention." And just like every other middle-aged Mexican woman Joy had ever met, La Reina made a dramatic entrance.
She, too, had changed outfits since they'd last seen her, switching her all black dress for another all black dress, this time with a blood-red veil to cover her face.
Gently, she pulled the fabric away from her face, staring pointedly at the group clad in complete red—salve Addy and Joy—on the opposing balcony.
La Reina had also changed her Catrina makeup into lines painted over her cheekbones and overly lined lips and dark red eyes. Rather than regal, she now looked a combination of menacing and halfway to the grave.
"My people. We have suffered for a very long time. The lives that we once knew have been torn apart. Most of the world has fallen into darkness. But not our world."
"Debatable." Joy muttered under her breath, covering her words with her fist as La Reina continued.
"Under the protection and the guidance of Santa Muerte, a miracle," She pointed below, and Joy had the sudden urge to ask for some tomatoes to throw.
Murphy had certainly made himself at home in a red and black charro outfit, lounging over a chair while regally waving at all the Zeros who looked him over with a smirk.
The group had to physically fight for their place in the cartel, and all Murphy had to do was be blue.
"El Murfi has been delivered to our doorstep. Thanks to the valiant effort of Lieutenant Roberta Warren and her courageous crew," By courageous crew, La Reina seemed to solely mean Joy as both her stare and hand gestures ignored everyone but her.
What was so special about Joy in her eyes anyway? Was it some sort of Mexican solidarity thing?
"And so tonight, we will give them the greatest honour that we know. We will make them one of us." The Zeros below instantly cheered, hollering for a party and holding up their drinks in response.
