Ep. 12 "Party With The Zeros" Ch. 3/6

•——— ——— —•——

If the leader of a cartel whom you'd only just met asked you to follow her deeper into her compound while surrounded by her fully armed henchwomen while you were weaponless; don't do what Joy did and follow her.

Remember; Joy is the example of what not to do.

"When the rest of the world descended into chaos, we survived. And we found our true purpose," Joy supposed that purpose wasn't drug dealing because Zs didn't make good customers for cocaine buys.

"We have a bounty of resources at our disposal."

"Yeah. Escorpion told us all about your resources." La Reina snorted, waving Warren's sour tone away.

"I wouldn't believe everything that mi Escorpion says. He's prone to exaggerate," Joy would know, he tried to hang 10K and her just because their mock trial interrupted his golf game.

"And he likes to intimidate people," Oh, goodie, a similarity between Escorpion and Joy, she hadn't been inside the cartel for a full day, and she was already taking on their traits.

"Perhaps that's why the people look to me for inspiration and hope." Or—hear Joy out—they were all too intimidated by La Reina to ever think of disobeying her. It was just a hunch, though.

"Hope?"

"Yes, Mr Murphy. Hope. You see, like me, you too survived for a reason. Please. This way." La Reina's grin widened, but not a single angle of her skin creased to follow the welcoming motion as they ventured deeper into the tunnels of the building.

Joy shivered as soon as her back was to them—and it had nothing to do with her cold blood this time around.

"Creepy." Everyone hummed in agreement before delving into the darkness of the tunnels.

At least these didn't stink of Zs, but they were still just as confined and eerie as the ones Escorpion had led them through.

"Your blood is the cure, is it not?" A rhetorical question Murphy didn't bother answering.

"What good is a cure if you can't get it to the people? Only the Zeros have the ability to distribute narcotics globally. I'll get the vaccine to the people and restore order to the world,"

From drug dealers to humanitarians, Joy would like to be shocked, but she'd heard stories from Gina on how certain cartels cared more about the people than their very own government.

La Reina had no facial expressions, but underneath all the makeup, calavera tattoos and stretched skin, maybe she was one of those good cartel people.

"My doctor has been working night and day to develop a cure. We are very, very close," She abruptly stopped in front of the only door not blocked by chains, used and bent syringes littered around the entrance.
