Ep. 11 "Corporate Retreat" Ch. 6/7

Joy was living through every movie trope possible because now she felt as if she were in a Wild West movie.
The windows covered in dust and an orange hue, booths settled around the room with pretend drinks on glasses in front of them, and everyone settled in their own corners toying with their weapons as if they weren't a big enough of a threat.
She was really fighting off the urge to yell out 'howdy partner' at the next person who walked past her.
However, just like in every Wild West movie, there was the one bandit she couldn't shake off.
This bandit hadn't necessarily tried to steal from Joy just yet, but his stare wasn't particularly friendly, as if urging Joy to cross the boundary of the fence they'd set up to keep the rest of the hotel Zs away.
Or so it would be if he were glaring at Joy, but his stare seemed more focused on 10K whose head kept swivelling like that of a hawk in search for its prey.
"That guy's been staring at you for a while. Should I go fight him?" She nodded towards the nosey man in the corner, who didn't even flinch when Zs beat against the glass behind him.
What company did he come from? Because his nerves were made of steel. He would have deserved a raise if he weren't so adamant on hating on a random guy.
"J.F.K, no."
"He's giving you the stink eye. See?" She forced 10K to look in his direction. And sure enough, the guy's eyes narrowed even further.
What was his problem with 10K? All he'd done was shoot things and be broody, that was basically his staple as a person. Not to mention how he was currently violating law number three of birthdays.
Don't hate on the birthday boy.
"I'm fighting him, I don't care." 10K tried to stop her, but his effort was half-hearted as Joy had already pushed the sleeves of her sweater over her elbows, cracking her knuckles.
Would the guy most likely beat her to a pulp with his massive arms and menacing scowl? Absolutely. But that would give 10K an excuse to shoot him validly and all their issues would then be solved.
He couldn't glare at 10K if he was dead.
But Joy's plans were soon hindered when she felt a hand latch to the back of her sweater. Thinking it was 10K Joy got ready to shake him off as she turned to shove him.
She came face to face with a snarling Z who had managed to break past the barrier she was supposed to guard.
"Joy!" The Z barely got to snap its teeth at her before 10K had blown its brains out, dragging her out of the way using himself as a shield against the rest of the Zs pushing at the fence, gun at the ready for any of them.
