Joy ended up in a group of her, Doc, 10K, and this one guy named Iggy who talked more than three Joy's worth, and spoke just as fast too, which made it a little hard to follow along. But, if 10K and Doc had grown used to Joy's form of speech, they could grow used to Iggy.
To be truthful, Joy didn't only follow Iggy's tour group because 10K was in it, she followed it because Iggy's area to tour was the kitchen. And no, Joy wasn't going to the kitchen for food necessarily, she was on a mission to find either a match and a candle, or just a match, and Joy didn't intend to fail her mission.
"We kept losing people all through Black Summer until we, uh..." Iggy trailed off as he skipped into the kitchen, eyeing the different jars atop a counter and grabbing a few.
"Voila! ...couldn't defend the whole hotel, so..," Iggy skipped towards one of the metal tables 10K, Doc and Joy had surrounded and tripped on a nearby cable, crashing into Joy momentarily before righting himself.
"Ooh! Sorry. We abandoned the rooms to the zombies."
"Kinda like a zombie roach motel." Iggy laughed loudly while opening a jar at Doc's words while Joy opened one of the nearby drawers.
It was her lucky day, Joy found matches, well, a singular match in an old faded matchbox, but she'd take what she could get. One match was better than nothing, Joy just hoped she didn't ruin it.
"Yeah." Joy quickly pocketed the matchbox and shut the drawer to hide the evidence of her stealing. In another life Joy would be an excellent thief.
"You guys been here the whole time?"
"We thought about going. At least, I have. But the group always vote me down."
"And have you thought of being an independent manchild and leave without them?" Iggy sighed sadly, thoughtfully staring into his tinted still closed jar.
"I'd die out there alone, Gordon said we'd all die alone out there. And he's usually right. My company sent me here for a weekend retreat to work on my people skills. That was four years ago."
"Gibson onions?" As if a switch had flipped in Iggy's brain all the solemn tone in him had gone back the cheerful self of before as he handed Doc the jar of onions to munch on.
"May I?" 10K ever the polite gentleman he was asked for permission to grab some water from the jug set a little too conveniently on the table.
"Oh, yes. Yes, yes, yes, yes. Huh? Yummy. Yes." Doc nodded along while eating his onions as Iggy poured a glass for 10K, offering one to Joy, but she declined it with a shake of her head. Her nerves were starting to get to her, and she wasn't in a position where her stomach would decide to cooperate despite her nerves, even if it was just a glass of water.
