I open to door to the De Santis estate and am met with a gloomy house. All the lights are on and there are people working, but the mood is sour. The air feels tense and I close my eyes and let out a breath before walking upstairs to Luca's office.

I push open the door to reveal Luca sitting on his couch with a sobbing Adelyn on his lap.

He sees me and his eyes plead with me to do something as I sigh and sit down next to him.

Adelyn looks up at sees me, only making her cry harder as I press a kiss onto her temple, my heart growing heavier as she tries talking.

I shake my head at her, "Take a deep breath, then try talking," I say quietly. She nods and leans into Luca's chest as he wraps his arms tightly around her shaking body, resting his chin on her head as she wipes her tears away.

"She was going to go back to you," she sobs, "She felt so bad, she wanted to fix things," she cries louder as I feel guilt crawling through my body.

"She regretted everything she said to you I promise," I close my eyes as Adelyn defends her cousin.

"Baby you don't have to justify her decisions, no one's mad at her," Luca says softly, cupping her face as he kisses her nose, "We're going to get her back baby, I promise," he whispers, smiling softly at her as she nods.

Adelyn looks at me with puffy eyes, "You're not angry at her? You're still going to go and save her?" she gulps.

I narrow my eyebrows at the poor girl, "Who ever said I was angry at her?" I ask, genuinely confused at why Adelyn thinks that.

"I don't know," she sobs, burying her face back into Luca's chest as I give him a concerned look. Luca covers his wife's ears, "Pregnancy," he whispers to me.

I grimace and nod, bringing my hand up to gently rub Adelyn's back, "Don't worry Addy. Lukie and I will get her back," I say, trying to cheer her up.

"I don't care what situation we're in, you don't call me that," Lukie grumbles. I chuckle and wink at him, "I've missed you too hermano," I grin. He just rolls his eyes as he looks down at the now sleeping Adelyn.

He sighs and stands up with her, motioning for me to stand up as he lies Adelyn back down and covers her with a blanket.

He waves me over to his desk and I follow, sitting down adjacent from him as he turns his laptop to face me.

"There's a few entrances but they're all guarded," he explains, "But Val did some digging and at eleven o'clock each night there's a switch over at the back entrance, and it always takes at least ten minutes because their men are fucking incompetent,"

"So we go in that entrance at that time," I cut him off, zooming in on the door at the back of the estate.

Luca nods, "Exactly, but we need to plan it carefully. Val's working on hacking their cameras so we can make sure they don't see it, so we can't do it tonight,"

"When will she be done?" I ask, just wanting to get Ophelia back as soon as possible.

"She said hopefully tomorrow," Luca says, turning his laptop back around to face him.

"Ok," I sigh, leaning back in the chair as I take out my packet of cigarettes.

Luca grabs them off me with a scowl, "Don't smoke in the house, especially around Adelyn," he says.

I raise an eyebrow at him and he rolls his eyes, "You're not smoking around my pregnant wife," he says harshly.

"Calm down," I mutter, glaring at him.

"I thought you quit," he mutters, putting the cigarettes in his drawer and putting his hand out again.

I roll my eyes and hand him my lighter, "Desperate times call for desperate measures," I sigh, sparing him any unnecessary details.

He raised an eyebrow at me but doesn't say anything further on the issue.

"Is Clarisse here?" I ask, changing the topic, to a more depressing topic I just admit.

Luca slowly nods, "She's been with Fleur mostly," he says, "Maybe you should talk to her?" he suggests.

I nod, "I will eventually," I sigh.

"What will you do once we get Ophelia back?" he suddenly asks, making my body tense.

I shrug, "We'll see," I murmur, unsure of what I'll do.

"Maybe finally become official?" he asks, smiling wickedly at me as I resist the urge to punch him in the face.

"And I think we're done here Lukie," I say, standing up and dramatically pushing my chair in, "I'm crashing in my room," I say, flipping him off before walking out of his office.

I roll my eyes as I hear him laugh and walk down the hallway to my usual room, thankful that I never bother packing up whenever I leave. Meaning I always have clothes and shit here.

I'm suddenly pulled back by a tired voice, "Carlos?"

I feel my heart sink when I recognise it to be Clarisse, letting out a breath I didn't know I was holding as I turn around.

I feel my heart sink further when I see her pale face, dark rings under her eyes as she looks at me.

"I'm so sorry," I whisper, walking over to her as I hug her. She wraps her shaking arms around me as her body trembles, "Please bring my daughter back," she says in a small voice, hot tears sinking into my shirt as she begins to cry.

"I will," I promise her, pulling back as she looks at me with a watery smile.

"I'm sorry she came back with me," she says, her old motherly smile returning.

"It's not your fault," I reply, feeling the familiar warmth flood over as she talks to me.

Mommy issues.

"You guys fix it when you get her back," she says rather than asks.

"I will," I say quietly, hoping that Adelyn was right and Ophelia really does regret what she said.

"On our next family Christmas I want to call you my son-in-law," she chuckles, making my cheeks burn red as I laugh, "All things going well you can," I say, trying to ignore the fact that my face is painfully red right now.

"Go get some rest, I want my daughter back," she says softly, kissing my cheek before turning back to walk to her room, "Goodnight mon fils," she says, smiling at me before pushing the door open to her room.

I don't even know what that means but she says it in the same tone as whenever she calls Ophelia chérie so I'm assuming it's good.

Google it.

I sigh and walk into my room, subconsciously locking my door as I sit on my bed.

I frown when I realise I don't have my box of cigars on me. I shake my head and dig through the drawers beside my bed, uncovering a half-used packet of cigarettes and lighter I've had for god knows how long.

I light a cigarette and suck in a deep breath, exhaling as I get out my phone and get up google translate.

I type in mon fils and smile when I see what it translates to.

My son.

She calls me her son.

I turn my phone on and take another drag, exhaling and watching the smoke circle before me.

I'll get her daughter back. My Fia.

I'll get my Fia back.
