I smile as I watch my Fia eating the pancakes I made her, taking a sip of her iced coffee in between each bite.
It feels good to both want to work things out, but we still haven't spoken about what we are, and it's a conversation which seems to get more daunting with each day that passes.
She catches me staring and swallows, finishing her coffee before leaning over me and placing her empty dishes on the nightstand.
"What is it?" she asks, giving me a soft smile as she places her legs in my lap. I shrug, "Nothing too important," I lie, tracing lines on her bare legs.
"Don't lie to me Carlos," she frowns, gently pinching my shoulder.
I sigh, unsure of how to say this as I hug her close to me, pulling her onto my lap so she's straddling me.
I hug her and rest my chin on her head, feeling my nerves go away as she hugs me back.
"What are we Fia?" I ask softly, not daring to look at her as I speak.
She pulls away and holds my face in her hands, "What do you mean by that?" she asks, furrowing her eyebrows.
"As in what are we?" I repeat, gesturing to the space between us, "Because I don't want to be stuck as just friends anymore," I say in a warning tone.
Her hands drop to her lap, "I'm not sure," she says quietly, suddenly perking up as she looks at me with bright eyes.
"Ask me out,"
"What?"
"Go on, ask me on a date Carlos,"
I chuckle, "Would you like to go on a date with me Fia?" I ask.
She smiles her beautiful smile at me, "I would love to," she says softly.
I grin at her as it feels as though a weight has suddenly been lifted off my shoulders, "I wouldn't have let you say no," I murmur, leaning down to kiss her.
"And I wouldn't have said no," she replies simply, kissing me back.
She suddenly gasps, "Where will we go?" she asks, her eyes shining with excitement.
"It's a surprise," I say with a smug smile, laughing as her smile falls.
"That's not fair," she whines, crossing her arms over her chest, pushing her tits up.
I groan and uncross her arms, wrapping them around me.
"That's the point of a surprise, if I told you it would spoil it," I explain, as if I'm speaking to a fucking child.
She hums, "Do you even know where you'll take me?" she asks, chuckling as I feel my cheeks burn red.
"No, but I'll figure it out," I say in a matter-of-fact voice. "But it'll be tomorrow," I say, not wanting to waste another second. "That's soon," she muses, rolling next to me on the bed.
Her eyes suddenly widen, "I need to tell Adelyn!" she exclaims, giving me a quick kiss before leaping off the bed and sprinting to wherever her cousin is.
I chuckle and shake my head, getting out of the bed and walking out into the hallway.
I walk down the hall and to Luca's office, flinging the door open with a grin.
"Finally asked her out Lukie," I wink at him, sitting down on his couch as he smirks.
"Took long enough," he rolls his eyes at me, "Better late than never," I deadpan.
"Why is Adelyn crying again?" I hear Marco sigh, "I swear she's like a water fountain, she needs to push that thing out of her,"
"Give it another eight months," I chuckle, looking at Luca as he narrows his eyes at our brother.
"Watch the way you speak about my wife," he says coldly, "And she's probably crying because Carlos finally asked Ophelia out," he says.
"No longer fuck buddies," Marco cheers, patting my shoulder, "And I still hate that term," I sigh, causing Marco to mutter an apology.
"Where are you taking her?" he asks, sitting down on the couch beside me.
I shrug, "Not sure yet," I confess, "Any suggestions?" I ask.
"What does she like?" Marco asks, and I wince when the only thing I can think of is owls.
"She likes owls," I say, hoping I don't sound as pathetic as I feel.
"Take her someplace where she can hold an owl or something, then take her out for a dinner and come back and fuck. Perfect date," Marco says, smirking at me as I roll my eyes.
"How romantic!" I gasp dramatically, flipping him off as he laughs like a fucking idiot.
"It's not a bad idea," Luca says, scanning something on his laptop.
"There's a national park 40 minutes from here, they home endangered owls and if you're willing to lay a lot of money you can have an 'interactive experience ' with them," he sounds skeptical during the last part and I slowly nod.
"Send me the link to that place, I'm taking her there," I say, liking the idea of that as our first date.
"That's adorable," Marco mutters, his eyes shining wickedly at us.
"Go get yourself a bitch then come back to mock us," Luca rolls his eyes, making me laugh.
I hear footsteps approaching and smile when the three girls walk into the room. I frown when I see Adelyn's eyes red, Val rolling her eyes.
"I can't wait until you pop that thing out, it's making you so emotional," Val sighs, sitting down next to Marco on the couch.
"Come here tesoro," Luca chuckles, opening his arms as his wife goes over and sits on his knee.
"What's wrong baby?" he asks with a soft smile, his fingers playing with the ends of her hair.
"She's such a mess it's hilarious," my Fia whispers, sitting in my lap and leaning back against me.
I hum in response, listening to Adelyn talking about how she's waited so long for 'this to happen' and it finally is.
I hug my Fia close to me and rest my hand on her thigh, resting my chin on her shoulder as goosebumps form on her skin.
I smirk against her neck as she flicks me, her cheeks blushing pink.
"I can't wait until tomorrow," she smiles, looking at me with a soft expression.
"Neither can I amore," I murmur, smiling up at her.
Our first real date.
