I feel my heart break into a million pieces as my Fia looks up at me with tear filled eyes, "Where is she?" she sobs, pushing me away as I try to comfort her.

"She was down the hal-" I don't get any further before sprints out of the room, calling out for her Mother as she tries to find her.

A loud gunshot brings me back down to reality as I realise that Claude's men are still trying to kill Ophelia and I. I get up and run to where Clarisse's body is, my feet cemented to the ground as I watch the gut wrenching scene before me.

"Mama," Fia whispers, running up to Clarisse's body, sinking onto the ground as she begins shaking Clarisse, "Mama wake up, we have to go," she chokes out, "Mama come on," she begs, "We need to go find somewhere safe," she breaks down into tears as she wraps her arms around Clarisse, burying her head into the crook of her shoulder.

I step inside the room and close the door so no one can come in, wiping away a tear which managed to spill from my eyes before slowly walking up to my Fia.

"Mama get up," my Fia sobs, "Wake up Mama we have to go," she cries, trying to pull Clarisse up.

"Mama please," she whispers, "You can't leave me,"

Her desperate words are like a knife to my heart, her cries burying the knife deeper and twisting.

"Mi Amore we have to go somewhere safe," I say gently, pulling my Fia away from Clarisse's body. "No, not without Mama," she says in a shaky voice, tears still streaming down her tired face. "Please Fia," I beg, trying to stand up with her as she shakes her head.

My Fia pulls away and once again wraps her arms around Clarisse's dead body, burying her face in her neck and she cries, "I'm not leaving until Mama gets up," she sobs, shaking her head as I feel my heart shatter once more.

"She's not getting back up," I almost cry, unsure of what to do anymore, trying to get her to realise the gravity of this situation. "She has to," my Fia says in a small voice, "She can't leave me, Mama can't leave me,"

Her shoulders convulse with each cry as she grips onto the body, her cries filling the room as the door is flung open by a man I don't recognise. I raise my gun and shoot him, now realising that our position is given away. I turn back to my Fia and gently kiss her temple, "Amore we have to go, we'll take Clarisse with us, we just have to get somewhere safe," I murmur, resting my forehead against the side of her head as she takes in a deep breath.

"I'm not leaving her here," she whispers, her body flinching as a gunshot goes off. I close my eyes and sit up, looking around to see Claude's men approaching. I look back at my Fia and pull her onto my lap, shielding her body in a hug as she clings onto the lifeless body of her Mother.

Soon her sobs are lost in the noise of the gunshots and screams of men, the smell of blood filling my senses as I hold tighter onto my Fia's shaking body.

Her cries become louder as the gunshots become nearer, her body convulsing with each sob as she holds tightly onto Clarisse's body, begging her to get up.

My eyes close as I listen to my Fia begging Clarisse to get up, not having the heart to tell her she's never getting up again.

I don't know how long we stay there for, all I know is that I hold on to my Fia, protecting her from the bullets flying around us as her sobs soon stop and her eyes close, her arms around her Mother's pale neck.

I hear the gunshots cease and I look up, watching as Luca walks into the room, his eyes softening as he sees us.

I gently peel my Fia from Clarisse's body and pick her up bridal style, her shirt covered in her Mother's blood as her mascara runs stained down her face.
