y/n had been working part-time at the retail store for the past few months, and today was her last day. she was excited to be starting school again but was also sad to be leaving behind the people she had met at the store.

as she was finishing up her shift, she spotted a woman walking in who caught her eye.

the woman was wearing a mask, but y/n could tell that she was pretty. y/n stared at her, mumbling to herself about how pretty she looked in the baseball jersey.

she watched as the woman walked around the store, looking at the different clothing and accessories. y/n stood at the cashier, watching her with interest. she couldn't take her eyes off her.

finally, the woman walked up to y/n at the cashier. y/n felt her heart racing as the woman asked if there was a new stock of the hat she was holding. y/n said she would check and quickly ran to the storeroom, not wanting to keep the pretty lady waiting.

y/n found the hat and ran back out to the cashier. the woman, whose name y/n didn't know yet, thanked her and paid for the item. y/n's hand was shaking as she helped her bag the item, and her face was red with excitement.

the woman asked about the warranty of the item, and y/n patiently explained it to her. she tried to sound calm, but her voice was shaking with nervousness. the woman smiled at her and thanked her before walking out of the store.

y/n was upset that she didn't get the woman's number or name. she disappointedly walked to the storeroom to clock out, wondering if she would ever see her again.

as she walked out of the store, she heard someone clear their throat behind her. she turned around to see the same woman standing there. y/n's heart leaped with joy as she realised that the woman had come back to see her.

"hey," the woman said, smiling at her. "i never got your name earlier. i'm danielle."

y/n introduced herself, and they struck up a conversation. they talked about their favorite sports teams, their hobbies, and their plans for the summer. y/n couldn't believe how easy it was to talk to danielle. she felt a connection with her that she had never felt before.

as they were talking, y/n's phone rang. it was her friend, reminding her about their plans for the evening. y/n apologized to danielle and told her that she had to go.

"can i give you my number?" danielle asked, smiling at y/n. "i'd love to talk to you more."

y/n handed danielle her phone, and she typed in her number. they said goodbye, and y/n left the store with a smile on her face.
