Walking back into her ex-boyfriend's house felt weird. She hadn't been there in months and she considered just driving him there and going back home, but then she realized it probably wasn't the best idea to leave him alone, knowing how harsh he could be on himself.

After breaking up with Eli she never imagined she would ever be inside his house, ever again. Yet, there she was, standing in Eli Moskowitz room once again, his hand in hers as they stood there in silence. Halley was thinking about what to do, it's not like she had ever been in that situation and Eli was just simply standing there eyes glued to the floor and his hold in Halley's hand grounding him

Halley was at a loss, she looked at Eli and he seemed to be deep in thought, eyes unfocused. His lips were sealed the whole way, he didn't say a word to her and she just guessed he needed time to process everything, his hair was very important to him, after all. Many people would say it's stupid to be so upset about just hair because 'it'll just grow back' but to Eli it wasn't just hair, the moment he put up that mohawk for the first time it was an armor for him, for once in his life people weren't looking at the scar in his lip, they didn't see the shy kid that was hiding, they all just simply saw Hawk, the bright color of his hair completely distracting everyone from the reality, and now that it was gone it signified a loss of confidence

"Eli" Halley called in a whisper. The boy immediately looked up to her, his name leaving her lips after so many months felt like a reward, he knew the second she said it he would be on the palm of her hand "What do you need?" The way she was looking at him is what did it for him, she wasn't looking at him with pity, she was genuinely worried and he hadn't been in the receiving end of those looks in so long that he could do nothing more than throw himself at her

His face buried in her shoulder and arms around her waist, Halley immediately wrapped her arms around him, one over his back and the other one caresing the back of his neck. Eli didn't make a noise, or a movement, he stood still in her arms. Halley felt the way her shirt dampened with his silent tears but she didn't commented on it, she just let him get everything out

For a moment everything that happened in the past year didn't exist. In that moment they were the two best friends they always were, there were no karate rivalries, no exes drama, no problems, it was just them in each other's arms and they wished they could just stay in that moment

When her phone rang at 9:00 am, Halley woke up and immediately recognized she was not in her house, the events of the night before fresh in her mind. She turned to see Eli sleeping face down on the mattress. She had gotten him to change the night before, but he refused to wear anything but a hoodie with the hood over his head. Quickly to prevent him from waking up she answered the phone when she saw it was Sam calling

"Morning" Halley said in a groggy voice as she sat up on the bed

"Halley...Did you just wake up?" Sam asked when she heard her

"Yep-" the brunette yawned "What's up"

"Where are you?" Halley could hear the frown on Sam's voice "And don't say your house because I'm here and you're not, sooo...."

"I'm at Eli's house" she realized how good it felt to use his name again, calling him Hawk was something she never liked "I'll tell you later" she said already knowing what Sam was gonna say

"You better" she teased before her voice turned serious again "My dad said we need to meet at the dojo now, something about the tournament"

"I'll be there in a few minutes and we can leave for the dojo together after" Halley said and then hung up. The brunette looked at the boy still very much asleep and felt bad for leaving with him still asleep, but she didn't want to wake him up.

Halley stood up and found a paper and a pen to write him a note and left it in his nightstand for him to find when he woke up.

"He didn't say what it was about?" Halley asked as she held the punching bag for Sam

"No" Sam forced out as she kicked the bag with pure rage

"If you're fighting like this then we definitely stand a chance against Cobra kay" Halley complimented

"As if we're actually allowed to stand up to them"Sam snapped

"Okay, chill-" Halley was interrupted by Daniel finally walking out of the shed

"Hey everyone, gather around. I have news" All of the Miyagi-dos walked close to their sensei "The All Valley committee just announced big changes for the tournament"

"What kind of changes?" Sam asked

"Well, see for yourself. It's a whole new ballgame" he gave the flier to Sam, Halley and Demetri reading along side her

"They're introducing skills competition?" Demetri was the first one to ask

"Yep" Daniel happily said

"Kata, board breaking, weapons display?"

"They're gonna separate girls and boys division" Halley said as she continued to read the changes

"So that means...?" Sam hesitated

"There'll be two All Valley champs" Daniel confirmed

"What does that mean for the bet with Cobra Kai?" Chris brought up a good point

"There's a Grand Champion trophy for which ever dojo wins the most points" Daniel clarified

"All I know is the girl's division is gonna be ours" Sam looked at Halley, and they high fived, it was about to be interesting if they both managed to get to the finals, they had never fought against each other outside of friendly sparing so it was bound to be a challenge for the both of them

"That just leaves the skills and the boys. I'm counting on you guys" They all frowned

"Who, us?" Chris asked and pointed at them

"Yeah, we're a bunch of Rudy's" Demetri continued "I mean, sure, we're good for the occasional inspirational moment, but we're not exactly center mat material" Demetri realistically said, and it was harsh but it was true, sure, the boys weren't half bad, but compared to people like Cobra Kai they stood nothing against them. Halley and Sam would even have a challenge when facing Cobra Kai girls, especially Tory. And the LaRusso cousins had been training since they knew how to walk, the Miyagi-dos were mostly nerds that decided to take a turn on their lives after not exercising for a day in their lives before

"We were much better off with Miguel and Hawk" Chris was right, both of them were exceptional fighters

"Or he who shall not be named" Demetri added referring to Robby, who was also extremely good "Rhymes with: Dobby" he mumbled

"Look, I know you're missing some of your friends'' Daniel sighed "And of course I wished Robby was here" Halley nodded along to that, yeah, obviously, Karate wise Robby was a great asset but also he was a good friend "But it's time to put the past behind us, all right? Don't worry. By the time the tournament comes around, you're gonna realize that this was the best thing that could've happened to us"

Hello, hello

We are getting closer each chapter to Halley and Eli's lover era. And finally, she's back to calling him Eli, thank god because calling him Hawk is kinda goofy tbh
