They gave Miguel half an hour to see if he could recover enough to fight again and since they couldn't hold off the competition, they continued with the next fight. Robby against Demetri and so far, Robby was winning, and Halley winced when his first made contact with Demetri's chest
"Point, Keene!" The referee said "Score, two-zero. Go to your senseis"
"Alright" Daniel tried to encourage when Demetri was close enough
"I had a hard time beating him when he was on the good side of the force. Now that he's gone all sith, I feel like a helpless Jedi youngling about to get slaughtered"
"Okay, well, you're taller. You have the high ground. That's how Obi-wan beat Anakin" Eli advised
"Alright, just remember your fundamentals" Daniel continued without having understand the reference "Breath in, breath out, breath through. You got this. Come on, Demetri" they all nodded encouragingly at their friend
"On your marks" they shifted to their fighting stance "Ready. Fight!" Robby was smirking confidently, and Halley wondered what the Cobra Kai had with smirks, it seemed like the only two facial expressions they knew how to execute was a deep frown or a smirk. To be fair, Demetri was putting up a good fight wich showed how much he had improved in the last months. The taller teen was even close to scoring points several times but eventually Robby managed to score his last point "Point! Winner!" Demetri walked to his team, still out of breath
"Okay. He's really good"
"So are you" Daniel smiled
"Thank you" Demetri whispered, because to him it meant a lot
"You did great" Halley high fived him and she really believed that, because if she though Miguel and Eli were some of the best fighters, then she would include Robby there as well, he was very good when they trained together, not with Cobra Kai style added to the mix, there was no doubt he had gotten better

Halley was stretching one last time to avoid over thinking, if she won this match she would go to the finals, that was it
"You better win this match, I really want to go to the finals with you" Sam said as she sat in front of her cousin "And I would give everything I have to see Tory's face when you beat her"
"Same. You then also better win your match then, I don't wanna go to the finals with some stranger" that made it less exciting "Besides, It's about time we finally face each other" Halley smiled
"It's been a long time coming" Sam smiled back "over thirteen years of training and we've never fought against each other"
"We'll, that is if we don't count that one time you dismembered one of my dolls when we were six" Halley laughed at the memorie, she remembered being so pissed the only think she though about to solve it was to engage into a, in her opinion, very lame karate fight, as they both were very inexperienced
"Okay, how many times do I have to tell you it was an accident?" Sam laughed also remembering
"Whatever" Halley jokingly rolled her eyes

And right before she stepped on the mat was when the nerves struck Halley, she had never fought Tory before, therefore, she had no idea how she went about her fights, she just knew the blonde was aggressive and very good.
"And now, for our first semi-final in the woman's division, we have" the loud voice of the host state announcing "Tory Nichols from Cobra Kai versus Halley LaRusso From Miyagi-Do" both teens got up into the mat, Tory visibly more confidently than Halley
"Face me" both girls complied "bow. Face each other. Bow" and they immediately shifted to their instances. Tory was in her offensive one, as always and Halley decided to take a more defensive one, just to play safe the first round and see how Tory was gonna go about it "Ready. Fight!" and when the other girl immediately tried to kick her she knew it was gonna be one hell of a fight. Tory was coming at Halley with everything she had, not even letting her respond, just blocking. The blonde obviously wanted to go to the finals but so did Halley. Finally the brunette got a kick in, because of the kick one of Tory's feet halfway out of the limits of the mat, but Halley was sure she had gone out after she kicked "No point, off bounds!'' The referee said when the brunette looked at him, Halley frowned and looked to her corner, just to see that Daniel was sporting the same frown as her "On your marks. Ready. Fight!"
For Halley something was not right, but she decided to focus on that after the fight. Tory continued attacking relentlessly and Halley decided she needed to up her game if she wanted to win and when Tory lowered her guard Halley took that opening landing a kick in her chest that made her stumble backwards
"Point, LaRusso!" Halley cheered quietly, now a little more confident than before
"Time out!" Kresse called, so both fighters went back to their senseis
"Please, tell me I'm not the only one who knew very well that was not out of bounds" was the first thing Halley said when she approached Daniel
"No, she stepped out after you kicked her" the sensei agreed with her "Let's not focus on that right now" he changed the subject "You got the first point, that's good. Just continue how you're doing, keep focus, breath and don't let her come too close" Halley nodded before the referee called them back
"Ready" When the brunette looked into the other fighter's eyes she saw a glint of something that wasn't there before, she had no idea what exactly that was, but it made her uneasy "Fight!" Whatever Kreese and Silver told Tory made her sharper than before, not necessarily more aggressive. Not even ten seconds into the fight Halley made lost the first thing Daniel told her to keep:
Her focus
It was half a second, only one micro moment where she looked at the stands, she had no idea what she was looking for, but she did, and she managed to catch a glimpse of a familiar face, however, she didn't have the time to process because the next second a pain in her shoulder brought her back to the fight, but it was way too late.
The pain in her shoulder was Tory's leg, Halley lost balance immediately, she tried stepping backwards to stabilize herself but it didn't work, so she was falling and in her last attempt to soften the fall Halley outstretched her right arm towards the floor but she realized that was the worst decision she could have made because as soon as she made contact with the mat she felt as is someone had stabbed her shoulder, white spots making their way to her vision from the pain.
Halley cried out in pain and knew something wasn't right when she couldn't move her arm and when she tried, pain washed over the whole section of her upper arm. In a matter of seconds she felt people surrounding her, it was the doctors and the referee checking up on her. They managed to get her on her feet to get her off the mat. The last thing Halley saw before her eyes dropped down to her arm were Tory's worried eyes. Halley's eyes closed in frustration because she already knew there was no way they were letting her back on the mat
⚘
Hello, hello
I really wanted Halley to get to the finals, because I love her and she's really good, but it would mess with the story too much and I don't feel like doing that right now. Also, I was really dreading writing this specific fight and I have no idea why, it was fairly easy once I figured out where I wanted it to go. Fun fact: I actually decided that Halley would lose because she got injured mid-way through the fight, originally Tory was gonna just beat her,but when have I ever left well enough alone? I wanted some drama
