Going back to school was not as bad as she thought it would be, I mean, she hadn't seen a Cobra Kai yet so that made it a great day already, and it became even better when out of the corner of her eye she saw a familiar figure walking in her direction
"Oh, my god. Miguel! You're back" she smiled, the boy immediately reciprocating
"Hi, Halley'' he reached her side and they shared a short hug. She had completely forgotten today was when he would come back, after everything her mind was working half of it's usual pace and Miguel had completely slipped her mind
"Looking good" she nodded her head "What did I tell you?" she said knowing he would understand that she was referencing to their conversation when he was still at the hospital
"Guess you were right"
"When am I not?" she teased
"You also don't look like a truck ran over you anymore" Miguel's comment caught her off guard and she let out a louder laugh than intended
"Yeah, I like to think I never looked that bad" sha raised her eyebrows at him as they both continued their way down the hall
"Then you should re-think that" he squinted his eyes and pouted his lips as he nodded his head
"Damn, really?" Halley asked sarcastically and Miguel answered with a very exaggerated nod. It felt weird being that carefree with Miguel again, they hadn't been really close for a while but she was glad she still could get along with him "Oh, there's Demetri" Halley pointed at the boy struggling at his locker as he couldn't use one of his arms because of the cast
"Hey! The comeback kid! Welcome back" Demetri greeted excitedly, truly, no matter they were a Cobra Kai, Miyagi-do or had nothing to do with Karate at all, everyone was excited to have Miguel back, and that spoke wonders about him as a person, yes, he may have not been the best for a while but that didn't take away from who he actually was "I hope to make a similar triumphant return to the land of the mobil appendage masses" he pointed to his cast
"What's up with the cast?" Miguel asked concerned
"Proximal radius fracture" Demetri explained
"It smells" Yamine appeared out of nowhere. Halley rolled her eyes but in reality she had started tolerating her after she came back, don't get her wrong, Halley was still annoyed by her, but lately she hadn't been as bad as she could be. Miguel also looked confused at the appearance of Yasmine
"I put a lemon rind down there to mitigate that. The invitation for you to sign it still stands" Dem took a marker out of his pocket and offered to her
"Hard pass" she scoffed pushing it back into his chest "At least when you used to be a thorn in my tits, you were getting me an A in science. Now you can't even do that because you're defective" and then she walked away
"I will never not dislike her" Halley mumbled
"So, uh...how'd you break your arm?" Miguel changed the subject. Both Miyagi-do's looked at each other
"We've got a lot to catch up on" Demetri said and Halley nodded along with him

As Halley was walking into the cafeteria she hear catering and her eyes wandered to where the noise came from, she saw Kyler clearly bothering Demetri
"Want me to sign your cast? Say no more" He said smugly and grabbed Demetri's marker from his pocket, Halley frowned and started walking towards them, as she walked she took a few seconds to not smash Kyler's face against one of the tables only because he wasn't worth the suspension she would get after kicking his ass
But she froze, she stopped dead on her tracks when she caught a glimpse of a shiny blonde hair, Angela was staring amusingly ad Demetri, but it wasn't her that made her freeze, right besides her Erick West stood with his chin raised high and his eyes full of malice. Halley felt like she couldn't move, her legs were stuck to the ground, her mind was telling her body to move and run like hell out of there so he wouldn't see her but she just couldn't bring herself to move one muscle. She wanted to cry, run, scream and punch him all at once but she felt trapped in her own body
Thankfully for her Miguel, who was talking to Hawk a few feet from her noticed her state, not only him but also the red haired boy noticed his ex-girlfriend. Out of pure instinct he started to walk towards her, and he was only stopped when Kyler raised his voice
"Hey guys! Check this guy out" He caught the attention of all of the cafeteria "Standing around with a dick in his hand" And everyone laughed except for Demetri who ripped his arm away from Kyler and walked away
"So, these are your friends now?" Miguel shook his head and walked to Halley, he stood in front of her so he wouldn't startle her by grabbing her out of nowhere, he put his hands in her shoulders and she now looked at him instead of Erick "Come on" he started guiding her out of the cafeteria. He walked her to an empty classroom and let go of her. She leaned on a wall and slid down until she was sitting on the ground, Miguel copied her and stared at her curiously "You okay?"
"Yeah" she shrugged, now that she was out of this place she felt more at peace, seeing Erick out of nowhere like that shocked her after not seeing him for a while "I hadn't seen Erick since the school fight, it just shocked me, I guess" she explained knowing he was too polite to ask but wanted to know. Miguel opened his mouth but closed it right after "He was my ex-boyfriend" she answered the unspoken question
"It didn't end up well?" it was more a statement than a question
"That's an understatement" she simply said, there were only three people, other than her and Erick, that knew what happened, Sam, Demetri and Eli, they were the ones that were for her when she was struggling after the break up. She never told anybody else about ir because it was probably the lowest point of her life and she never wanted to live through it again

I don't know if you've noticed but if you pay really good attention, whenever Halley is referring to Eli before Cobra Kai she uses his name and then when shes talking about him in present time she refers to him as Hawk, and not only when shes talking but also in narration is done that way. That's because Hawk is so impersonal for her, she calls him Hawk because it's as if she didn't know who he was anymore so she calls him by the nickname everyone calls him...
