Halley was walking down the halls, with her eyes glued to her schedule and wanting to die since she had Math first thing in the morning on monday, her frown banished into a surprised expression when her body bumped into someone almost sending her flat on her butt. When she looked up she saw a kid that she had never seen arround
"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry" he kept apologizing while bending down to pick up his things that were scattered in the floor, Halley helping him
"It's okay, it was my fault. I wasn't looking where I was going" when they finished they stood up and Halley extended her hand towards the hispanic boy "Halley LaRusso"
"Miguel Díaz" he accepted her hand, struggling to not let his things fall to the floor again
"You're knew, right?"
"Is that obvious?" she thought he did look a little lost
"Just a little. I just had never seen you around" Halley smiled
Halley discovered that she had the same class that Miguel, and since he was going of the opposite direction of the classroom, she decided to guide him

Lunch came around much slower than expected, it was the first day and Halley already wanted to jump off a cliff, she was a good student, that didn't mean that she liked school. At the cafeteria she sat with her two best friends, so engaged in the conversation she was having with Demetri about the Marvel universe, that she didn't notice Miguel looking around the room like a lost puppy.
The boy saw Halley, and decided to walk to her table. He didn't know anyone else, so the girl that had helped him through his first day seemed like the best option.
"I'm just saying it's ridiculous that-" Halley was cut off when Eli nudged her knee with his, turning to look at him she noticed his attention was in something else
"Is it cool if I sit here?" Halley went to answer immediately with a smile, how ever Demetri beat her to it
"Ooh, Sorry, table's really blowing up right now" he motioned to the very obvious empty seats "I can put you on the waitlist, but it's probably next semester at the earliest" Miguel who clearly didn't pick up Demetri's sarcasm looked down and started to walk away
"Ok" he mumbled
"Wait" the girl stopped him "He was just kidding, sit" her kind smile never erased from her face
"Miguel" he introduced himself
"Demetri. This is Eli" the shy boy only nodded at Miguel "He's a man of few words"
"Well, that's just the understatement of the year" Halley said looking at Eli, him just smiling and looking down
"And this is Hal-"
"We've met" her two best friends looked at her confused "We bumped into each other in the halls, also we have Math together" Yasmine and Sam walked in front of the table the four were sitting at, the last one giving Halley a look. Miguel looked hypnotized by the two
"Dude, don't torture yourself. Those are the rich girls"
"Do you ever talk to them or...
"Oh, yeah! All the time. We hang out after school, give each other hand jobs" Demetri's favorite thing was sarcasm, and Miguel was starting to realize that "Eli here is the homecoming king. Gets laid more than anyone. Isn't that right, Eli?" he just smiled at Miguel, Halley thought he looked cute "Talk to them? I mean Halley could, but for some reason she insists on sitting here, but other than that? You realize what table you're sitting at, right?. You've pretty much singed up all hopes of losing your virginity before college"
"Oh, shit, Yasmine's looking at us" Halley could see him getting subconscious and sinking more into the chair in hopes of making himself smaller "Probably just making fun of me" the brunette's hand went to Eli's knee in hopes of comforting him
"I don't think she's making fun of you. I mean, just because they're hot doesn't mean they're mean" true, but also not true, Halley knew Sam and Moon weren't bad people, however Yasmine was every nerd's nightmare
"I don't care if Yasmine is the meanest girl at school. I'd kill all three of you just to get her to spit on my face"
"Geez, thanks, Dem. That's so nice"
"If you don't make a move you'll never have a shot" Miguel was obviously not reading the situation, Demetri was horrible with girls, the only girl he hung around it was Halley, and that was only because they knew each other since they wore diapers.
"True, but I'll also never suffer a humiliating rejection. I'm at peace with my depression. Last thing I need to be is suicidal" without saying another word Miguel stod up
"What are you doing?"
"Striking first" he answered without looking at him
"He's gonna die in here, he won't last a week" said Halley
"Oh, shit. Hope we don't get hit with the shrapnel" his walk was interrupted when Kyler and his goons appeared in the table making Miguel turn back
"See you later, 'Rhea" Kyler screamed
"So, how'd it go?" Halley couldn't help but let out a laugh at Demetri's tone. Miguel just nodded in his direction

"I can't believe you convinced me to come here" Sam had dragged Halley to her house and basically begged her to come have dinner with her parents and new boyfriend, to the point where she just couldn't say no, and now here she was, fixing her lipstick in Sam's vanity waiting for Kyler to appear
"It won't be that bad"
"Do not dare to tell me that" Halley laid beside Sam on her bed "And why Kyler of all people?"
"He's cute" she shrugged" and he actually seems interested on me"
"Yeah, I would take that as an insult, but whatever makes you happy, I guess" Sam glared at her cousin "Just, be careful, okay? He doesn't give me good vibes"
"It'll be fine. You need to stop judging people based on the vibes you supposedly get from them" She rolled her eyes
"I've never once been wrong, tho"
