VI. ɪ ᴡᴏᴜʟᴅ

When Halley found out about what had happened to Miguel at the party, to say she was livid was an understatement, she was having breakfast when she received the text form Demetri about how Kyler had jumped Miguel in the bathroom, she took a deep breath, trying to calm down and texted Miguel to make sure he was okay, after she got that done and Miguel assured her he was fine, she called her cousin

"Your boyfriend is an asshole" was the first thing the brunette said when Sam answered

"What are you talking about?"

"You have any idea what the people you hang out with are capable of? Your dear boyfriend beat the shit out of my friend in the bathroom last night, and I know you won't believe me because this is not the first time this has happened and it's always the same thing"

"Halls, calm down"

"No, don't tell me to calm down Samantha, also, that bitch who you insist on calling your friend not only bullies my friends, but also the girl who you considered your best friend a few months ago. Aisha, do you remember her at all?" she let out a sarcastic laugh because she was so done with everything "I'm done making excuses for you, Sam. Come talk to me when you stop being surrounded by shitbags" and without waiting for an answer she hung up

Halley was so sick and tired of always having to convince herself that Sam was oblivious to everything her friends did, that if she wasn't actually participating she was not a bully, but she realized that by Sam hanging out with bully's, maybe that didn't turned her into one, but it did made her a part of the problem, and she was done justifying her cousin's actions

"So that's it?. No more Karate?" Eli, Miguel, Demetri and Halley were sitting in a table at the library 

"I guess so" 

"It's probably for the best. I was starting to boost your confidence" Halley has never met a person more negative than Demetri

"Isn't that a good thing?"

"No" he says as it is obvious "What has confidence ever gotten anybody except for a black eye and their backpacks thrown in the trash?"

"Well, I thought it was kind of cool how you stood up to Kyler" Eli always was very careful about his opinions when Demetri was around, because the boy always found a way emphasize his point very loudly and Eli wasn't one to want attention on himself

"Are you insane? Let me ask you. What is the best superpower anyone could have?"

"Super strength"

"Telepathy" Miguel and Halley said at the same time

"Wrong. Invisibility. A distant second would be would be super speed to run away very fast"

"Run away from who" Halley rolled her eyes when Kyler appeared from besides Eli

"Whom" Kyler looked at his buddy confused "It's the object of a preposition. Remember english class" Halley was surprised he even went to class, let alone actually pay attention

"We were just leaving" the four of them started grabbing his things, the three boys obviously more rushed than the girl, who wasn't scared, just annoyed

"Hey, where are you going?" Kyler grabbed Eli from the neck, and  Halley swore she could see red "Oh, look at this freak" He then grabbed her best friend by the cheeks with his other hand obviously checking his lip "Oh shit"

"Kyler, leave him the fuck alone" she knew she could take the two of them in a fight, but if things went out of hand she was gonna be in so much trouble, not only with her uncle, but also with her parents

"Or what? What are you gonna do?" he mocked and turned his attention back to Eli "What kind of girl would ever kiss this shit" 

'I would'

Halley 100% would kiss Eli, but voicing that to kyler wouldn't help the situation so she kept her mouth shut. Halley was fed up and started walking forward to remove Kyler from Eli but Miguel, also done with Kyler's bullshit, talked first

"Leave him alone, Kyler" that made his attention divert from Eli, letting go of his face to focus on Miguel. Halley grabbed Eli by his hand and put him behind her, intertwining their fingers

"What'd you say? You haven't had enough, Rhea? Huh?" He pushed Miguel's face "Yeah, get the hell out of here, man" Halley stayed behind to make sure the boys left the library before her, apparently Demetri was a little late, Kyler pulled him back from his backpack and took it away from him "Hey, you don't want this shit"

"No, come on. Not the trash" Before the backpack fell into the trash, Halley put her hand under, catching it and giving it back to Demetri, she also gave him a look to get out of there, which he more than eagerly complied

"You know, I don't usually hit women, but I guess I'll have to do an exception for you" Kyler's hand went up and was coming straight to her face, before it could make contact though, Halley caught it

"Listen Kyler" her hand started twisting his, slowly and progressively applying more and more pressure to his wrist "If you ever get close to my friends again I will break every bone in your hand" Kyler was basically crying at that point "Do you understand?" he fastly nodded, Halley finally releasing his hand "That goes for you too" she looked at the other boy "You should apply ice on that" she looked at the very obviously in pain Kyler, which hand would he hurting for a few days at least. She then walked out of the library head high, without even noticing her cousin who had heard the whole exchange

She went out and looked at her friends with a smile, like the situation with Kyler never happened, and suggested they should go to class, she started walking with the three boys behind her, not even wanting to know what happened after they left, she was in one piece, so they guessed it went okay for her

That nigth Sam did went to the movies with Kyler, and after he wanted to fuck her on a puclic space she decided she had enough, Halley was rigth, and she took too long to notice, after getting Kyler off her she thougth about going to her cousin, bet felt too embarassed to do so, so she just decided to head home and then from there decide how to fix her relation with Halley
