"Have you talked to Eli?" Halley asked on the phone to Demetri, It had been six days since she had last seen him, he wasn't answering her calls or texts, she knew he was seeing them because she was being left on read, and it was not only her, Demetri wasn't able to get a hold of him

"Nope, not a single word" she could hear him moving around his house "He's definitely ignoring us" he stated

"Oh, definitely" Halley nodded

"I'm actually on my way to his house" She heard Demetri open and close what she assumed was his front door "You should join"

"I will" she nodded eve though he couldn't see her "I might get there later, I still need to shower and I'll maybe bake something for him" Cookies always made everyone feel better, specially Eli, she knew how much he loved her cookies, anything she cooked really, but specially her cookies

"Halley, it's 3 in the afternoon, what do you mean you haven't showered?" Demetri teased

"Don't judge me, Demetri" she used his full name just as he had done "I was busy"

"With what, exactly?" Demetri knew she wasn't doing anything

"With...things" she mumbled "Now leave me alone, I need to do stuff. See you in a while, bye"

Halley actually thought it was a good idea to let Demetri talk to Eli before her. If there was one person that knew Eli Moskowitz as much as Halley did, that was Demetri. He knew exactly what to say to pull him out of whatever negative thoughts he had. That was a dynamic they had before the Karate rivalries started, Halley was the one with the kind and comforting words and the warm embrace and Demetri was the one with the logic words and aggressive love.

When she arrived at the boy's house she was gonna knock but remembered where Eli's mom kept the spare key for the house, which wasn't there, but she also knew there was a second one hidden in the dirt of one of the plants in the front, so she just invited herself in. She heard voices in the basement so she made her way there. Demetri was the one to notice her

"I'm going to the bathroom, be right back" Demetri got up from the couch and walked towards Halley "He wants to quit karate, please do something" he mumbled and continued his way up the stairs. Halley made herself visible and Eli felt the new presence immediately

"How did you get in?" he frowned as he had the spare key Demetri had used to get in

"Second spare key" she threw it at him and he sighed at his mom

"What are you doing here?" he asked again. The truth was, after he woke up the day after the incident and she wasn't there he suddenly felt embarrassed by his break down, so he decided to not respond to her calls or texts, then he realized it was stupid as it wasn't the first time she had seen him like that so then he felt bad because she was just trying to help

"I come bearing gifts" She showed her hand with the back of cookies, his eyes immediately shone when they registered them, Halley smiled because just by his face she knew he wanted to snatch them from her hands

"For me?" he stupidly asked

"No, for your mom" she deadpanned playfully "Who else would they be for?" she smiled and sat beside him, for a second too long she stared at his hair, or well, the lack of it. It was just a second, but of course he noticed

"It looks terrible, I know" he reached to put his hood back on but Halley was faster in reaching for his hand, she brought it down to the space in the couch between them and covered it with hers

"It doesn't" she assured sincerely

"Don't lie" he looked at her incredulously

"I'm not" she shook her head looking him in the eyes "I swear I'm not" she poured every ounce of sincerity she had in those words "You are not just what your hair looks like. Spiky, coloured, soft, long, short, that doesn't define who you are. You are so much more than just your hair, Eli. Much more than your looks''Halley knew he always struggled with what he saw in the mirror, and for a while she couldn't understand how because for her he was always so beautiful, but then she realized it was because people often couldn't see past his scar and that made him also just see the scar every time he saw himself. The bright mohawk diverted the attention of everyone else and also his own "What you are is defined by your actions and your feelings"

"Everyone in school knows what happened. I couldn't back up my big talk and now I'm back to being a loser" he broke eye contact

"Fuck everyone!" she shook her head "Those people don't know you. The are all dumbasses that made your life hell for years and when they saw you gained popularity then suddenly decided they liked you" She was pissed, she spent years defending Eli from bullies and then all of the people that laughed when he walked besides them in the hall started to idolize him "The people who care about you don't give a damn what you look like, I know because I don't and I sure as hell Demetri doesn't either"

"You care about...me" he possessed her words. Halley sighed because why was that the only thing he was getting from everything she said

"Yeah" she admitted "Of course I do, I always have. I've always cared about my best friend Eli. Asshole Hawk can eat shit though" she joked and managed to get a smile out of him, a weak one, but a smile nonetheless.

"Thank god I'm not asshole Hawk then"

"I'm very thankful for that" Halley really was "I'm glad you're with us now. I don't think I ever told you but you're a really good fighter. If you were with them we'd definitely would have a harder time in this Karate war or whatever all of this has turned into"

"Well, no need to worry, because I'm not gonna be going back to Cobra Kai, ever, or to train Karate for that matter" He huffed. Halley frowned, she couldn't believe that, because before everything went to shit, when Eli had just started Cobra Kai and he started to build confidence he looked the happiest she had seen him and she knew he liked the sport outside of the confidence in gave him

"You're insane" she said directly and his eyebrows raised in question "You're one of the best fighters in the valley" and she really stood by that, she had trained with a lot of people and out of them the boy in front of her was one of the best of them "And, no offense to Dem or any of the other boy's at Miyagi-do, but we're hopeless at winning the tournament in the boys division" there was also the reason that if he stopped training that would mean seeing way less of him and that just wouldn't do, she had gotten used to his presence in the dojo "And, if you end up coming back, don't do it for anyone else but yourself, you love Karate, I know it, don't deprive yourself of something you love over some fears you've beaten before"

"I'll think about it" he finally sighed and Halley grinned

"That's good enough" she knew she had gotten through him "Now you can eat your cookies" she finally handed the bag to him which immediately made him match her grin

"You think If I eat them all and Demetri realizes he will be mad?" he wondered as he stuffed a cookie in his mouth

"Oh, he'll come after you if you don't save him some"

Hello, hello

If I had a shot everytime I wrote the word 'Cookie' in this chapter I would have ended up in an ethyl coma.
