Halley was excited, everything was almost over. In the women's division there was still one fight that was relevant for them in the quarter finals. It was Sam against Piper, the winner would continue to the semis. Halley already knew who she had to fight in the semi finals, she was going against Tory, which had her a little restless, she knew the blonde was quite good.
The fight against Piper didn't start so well on Sam's side,a s the first point was scored by the Cobra Kai. They all saw Piper saying something to Sam and the LaRusso girl turned back, she looked at her father, then at Johnny, who nodded her way. And Halley recognized that look immediately, it was pure determination and much like Halley had done, Sam changed her stance and started bouncing
"Fight!" as soon as the referee allowed, Sam attacked, she didn't let Piper wear off her initial shock before continuing her attack, successfully earning a point "Point, LaRusso!"
"Yes, Sam!" Halley clapped loudly. Everyone could see the stressed faces of the senseis of the opposite team, their fighters had been beaten a little too much by the Miyagi-dos that afternoon.
"Fight!" Once again, Sam wasted no time on attacking, immediately kicking Piper in the face "Point, LaRusso" By the look on her uncle's face, Halley knew he wasn't too pleased with the way both her and Sam had approached their fights "Fight!" Sam continued fighting in offense and after a few seconds of the round a punch to the chest after throwing Piper to the floor was what got her the last point "Point, LaRusso!" The referee raised her hand in the air
"Yes!" Johnny cheered
"Winner" the cheers across the gym immediately were heard. As Sam left the mat she could see her talking with Daniel before dryly walking off on the opposite direction. Halley stared for a moment before his uncle catched her, she looked away pretending she wasn't looking
"Don't think I've forgotten about your performance, young lady" Danile approached her and Halley squeezed her eyes tight, cursing herself for not running off when she had the chance "Why did you and Sam decide to do this?" Halley could tell he felt somewhat betrayed for going to Johnny for training
"Because, even though defense is really important, it's not enough" Halley looked up at him, making eye contact "Because, we were tired of getting our ass kicked every time by bullies. We are done simply replying to what they throw at us" Halley loved Miyagi-Do, she always would, that was her whole childhood, it was what introduced her into Karate, but if she wanted to have a chance, then that wasn't enough, he wanted more knowledge, more perspectives and so did Sam
"This is not the right way" he pointed to the mat, referring to the style of fighting
"Maybe not for you" Halley tried to reason with him "But if there's one thing I learned is that there's not a right or wrong style of Karate, just the wrong people teaching it" The fighting style of Cobra Kai was amazing, their fighters were strong, but the people running the dojo were monsters "If we wanted to win, we needed to up our game. This is it" Halley was very sure of her words, in order to beat the other dojos, they needed to know how they fought, so by learning different styles they were getting better even if Daniel thought were wrong
