by the time i get to command no one is there including katie. i've been left behind. what an awful guard i am.

"great," i look around the room since i don't have anything better to do. and my eyes find the screens. these screens are old. they could have been used in the other world. i wonder if there's cameras throughout the building. i'm sure there is. i shrug.

"worth a shot," i decide and clamber out of the room. i look all over to find the cameras. they're not in the corners of hallways that's for sure but where else would it be convenient to look from? i sigh as i keep looking. finally my eyes catch on a hole near the ceiling with a small round object in it.

"no way, how am i supposed to put new batteries in there?" i frown and walk around the hallway. finally i find a door that leads to some kind of circuitry hallway. i gulp before closing the door behind me.

it sure is dark in here.

i slide along the wall and gingerly press my fingers into the wall. i don't even know what i'm looking for. i sigh and keep walking.

in the distance i see a small black box. hoping it helps with my camera dilema i run to it. it only controls the power in the house though. i sigh and turn around, still looking for something that will help me. i frown and look around some more. the wall hallway keeps going— let's call it a wallway. i keep following it.

there seems to be doors to enter from the wallway. it's odd. i wonder if every floor has this hidden wallway. kind of spooky but would be great to play a good old game of hide and—

i hear something. a spark.

a spark?

like an electric spark?

"good evening," a calm voice states.

i don't scream. i'm too mature for that. i look him dead in the eye and have a heartache within me.

i take a stabilizing breath. he scared me so bad i almost peed my pants.

"how can i help?" i return.

"well, i've been trying to figure out how to fix the cameras around here and i thought there might be something to help me in here," he states calmly.

"i see, i'm here for the same reason," i say.

"nice," he makes his way past me. "i've been learning how to transfer power from an object to an object. i wanted to try using it for the camera," he smiles. i know what he's talking about in theory, only i'm better on the computer side of things. objects tend to blow up when they're around me for too long.

"i haven't seen you around much before, what's your name," he asks me.

"amy," i state with a straight face.

"what school did you graduate from?" he continues. i sigh.

"crystal high," i return.

"brawn high for me, they don't expect much from us that's for sure," he smiles.

"do you like university better?" i ask him. what can i say, he peaked my interest.

"nah, i miss my friends. some of my best friends are in jaden university. i didn't qualify. that's why i'm here. i wasn't good enough," he grumbles.

yikes.

wrong question to ask.
