my new comerade and i have gotten the monitors working and i don't believe what i'm seeing. though i did expect the cameras i didn't expect the data it would give me. and it's not just the video feed that's interesting. several of the monitors are not video displays which means they're meant for something else. the only problem with those is that they have a password lock. these monitors are clearly over 20 years old. so what could the password be?
my comerade suggests we go back and search through the walls for the password and i quickly agree. hopefully someone else will catch on and help with the cameras.
my watch buzzes. i blink at it.
"what?" he asks.
"i just made 150 points," i grin.
"i guess this is worth it after all. maybe there's a game within this stupid game," i smile wider.
"there's only one way to find out, we need that passcode," my comerade continues.
we both squirm through the walls looking for anything that will point to a password.
"what do you think the monitor will tell us when we unlock it?" his eyes are alight with adventure.
"i'm not sure, what else is there to look at? i mean they have a building and we have a building. what's the point in using a computer?" i, however, am less entertained. i'm just perplexed.
"what do you mean?" he asks.
"well, i mean i thought the point of the game is to get the crystal on the other side and bring it back. other than a camera telling us where people are, what can we possibly use it for? we can communicate with our watches already so what will it do?" i continue as we search for clues along the ever long walls around us.
"i mean it would be useful for when we use machines. you know? like what if we could bomb them?" he starts excitedly. "what if we can hack their lines?" he is practically jumping.
i gulp.
"i guess there's that," i shrug.
"i mean, since last level and this one there's already so many updates i'm sure they make this game more complex as we go! i mean, they wouldn't keep the game around so long if it didn't have more than meets the eye," i can see him smiling through the darkness. "my guess is it works just like a video game. it just gets harder. already our building for this level is twice the size as it was last level. the monitors weren't there either," he is practically coming up with a whole plot line himself.
"i tell you what, this game isn't some walk through the park," and this is when the chill runs down my spine. but why? why a game where we're pitted against eachother and told to fight to the death? the more deaths the more points? i thought that that was the purpose of the game. isn't it?
