there is a fight to claw to the top and i am volentold into the throng. i have to come out on top. my conversation with the menta solidified this conclusion in my mind. i have to be victorious.

i don't know who to believe anymore.

"kassie," kally is next to me the second we're dismissed from the arena.

"what is the plan?" sure enough the others are near me too. i gulp.

"let's go back to my room," i roll my shoulders back as they follow me back to my dorm room.

"alright. spill the beans," is the first thing out of terrence's mouth behind the closed door to my room.

"what about the creatures?" kally adds.

"what do you mean?" asks luke. i gulp.

and my mind is brought back to the trees.

the menta live above the ground among the trees. they have hollowed out holes through some of the trees to use as homes. attaching bridges between neighborhoods. the area is lit by fire light kept in glass orbs attached to the trees. the menta walk on two legs like us, and are very familial. i saw so many small menta that would trip into their parents embrace. there were older creatures with children ones on their laps. they were just like us. only, they loved and were connected.

the starbrights love this area and twinkle among the trees like starlight. there is laughing and singing always. one of the trees is called the singing tree. they use it to worship their god, the ones who made the crystal core.

they call the one who created the crystal core the creator who made this whole dimension. they believe that this deity created them to protect this crystal core and each other from the outside.

when i asked them about the outside they pointed to the skies. i asked them why they did not point towards the alasians which made them laugh.

all creatures are created to protect the crystal core no matter what they look like, was their response.

i asked them about the humans to which they referred to them as nonmagical alasians. those who volunteered to protect our land.

they were no one to be afraid of, they were simply another creature to respect and treat fairly.

when i asked them why they were attacking the alasians they said they broke the treaty of mutual peace and life in simbiosis.

i asked them what we did and they said we attacked the crystal core, and when i asked how, they simply said they felt it.

when i've relayed all of this to my friends i sit back and watch the confusion settle.

"every time i feel like we're getting closer to an answer the next mystery comes our way. what the heck does that mean? we felt it!" it's terrence that says this. there's a few nods between them.

"is the crystal core real?" kally asks. we all look at her.

it's a good question. we've been told about it in theory since we were young but it was always this theoretical thing.

is that really why all of us were made?
