the next level is tomorrow. level five. i can feel the tension in the air. it quivers like a mist around the doorways to the classroom. it creeps around the lawn, in the silence between bedrooms. anticipation. we need to win. we all know we need to win.
kassie looks more anxious than anyone. she has made a plan for what she knows she needs to get done on level five. for now, that's as far as we can go. i've been training more than ever, but nothing i do could ever put out a higher strength than tigris. speaking of tigris brings terrence to mind. why is he looking into all of this? what is he trying to achieve?
i heard he persuaded kassie to have dinner with her mother to ask her more about the council. i warned her about it. her mother doesn't tell anyone anything. our best bet was the library. but there's something that's been happening lately that i can no longer overlook. she says no now. not only no but she has her own ideas and beliefs. so much so that she will fight me on subjects.
kassie has always been so docile that i never anticipated this streak of independence to come so soon. of course i knew she would have to find her confidence as a leader it was always comforting to think she would take my advice. she's becoming her own person, for better or worse.
and it's not only her that's been changing. terrence has been looking more and more morose. he looks leaner that he has in the past but his fighting is as deadly as ever. it's like there's something he's waiting for. and i think it has to do with what happened to rose cummings. he has this fire in his eyes like at a moment's notice he could go off. he's like a bomb only more lethal and twice as volatile. he is growing terrifying. and the only question is what will become of it?
luke has been working on the project he is preparing for ken. but never before has he looked so sure. for some reason the thought of ken returning to our side doesn't sound the same. if anything, i'm almost happier where i am now. i feel my lip curl upward. i know it won't last forever, but for once i genuinely feel content.
