currently i've alerted anyone i could get ahold of about the plan. i know there won't be a lot of trust in me so i'm dependent on ima. if they see us working together i'm hoping they will begin to understand we are on the same side.
"why are you doing this?" ken pulls up next to me.
"i need to show them i'm trust worthy and that i can work as a team. i need to show them we can win," the thought invigorates me. ken looks hesitantly towards me and then breaks into a laugh.
"good luck with that, army university hasn't won in literal centuries," there's this glimmer in his eyes of pride. it makes me wonder for the hundredth time why they placed him in army. the only reason i can think of is that he's after me because he loved jaden university. he loved being the top of the food chain.
"why are you doing this?" i finally ask.
he freezes and then gives me a long stare.
"what do you mean?" he prods.
"why did you pick army university when you could have gone to your dream school?" i shrug. i feel him tense.
"i don't know. a whim i guess. last year was a lot to take in. taught me a lot," the words feel forced and formal and don't meet his eye.
i sigh.
"nevermind," and then make my way back around the building to check on amy's progress. ima had a plan to send out a reconnence team. im going to back the team up.
"katie," he continues.
"what now?" we are half way between our land towards jaden's land.
"why don't you just use force to take over?" and for the first time in a long time i register sincerity in his voice.
"force gets people on my side for the short term. i need long term soldiers that i can trust," so i answer honestly.
"and why will they trust you?" sarcasm creeps into his voice.
"i'll earn their trust," i state plainly. "and build mutual respect."
this earns a cold laugh.
"like that will happen, they hate you," i look towards him. the angel face with the tormented soul. his bleach blonde hair. his ocean eyes and features sculpted like michaelangelo's david. why does his soul have to be frozen?
"that's why i have to earn their trust," i reiterate with a smile. he looks at me questioningly and his deep pronounced eyebrows curve downward to touch his lashes.
"good luck," he gives me a fake smile and his dimples create crevices in his cheeks.
