i wait with baited breath for kassie. working with terrence is something of a nightmare. i never knew how connected he was. we have already met with several groups secretly who have plans to break away from tigris once they are strong enough. the thought is alluring to say the least. terrence grins at the news. it makes me think back to when he wanted to be with kassie. it makes me wonder if that's why he's helping her or if there's something else motivating him? whatever it is, i'm glad he's on my side.
somewhere in the middle of the night he decides we need to find out tigris' plan to sabotage it. only enough so that kassie's plan can pull through at the last minute.
"what are you thinking?" i ask him hesitantly. he pauses and then shrugs absently.
"i haven't the faintest yet, but i will by the time we're under attack," he smiles. "hopefully it's after kassie gets back so she can get the credit," he sounds hopeful about the outcome.
"why are you rooting for her?" i ask finally. he looks at me long and hard.
"i'd rather her than tigris," he shrugs.
"what about katie?" i ask in slight confusion.
"what about her?" he asks back in confusion. "she's not on our team so we have to beat her," he shrugs and then smiles wide. "the nature of competition," he laughs.
if only he knew what the government wanted to do to katie. if only he knew what was being planned right now under his nose. any day now ken is going to show up with katie. i know it. and then the government will take her away. they'll say they let her go into the other world but i know deep down it's a lie. that can't be their plan for her. they have risked too much to get to this point. now the only question is if kassie will be able to kill katie when the time comes. and i don't mean in this stupid game. i mean will kassie be able to kill katie?
even if her mother was some horrible extremist or whatever the case is. that's not katie. i'm kassies guard. i'll probably be next to her when she has to kill katie, but that's just it. how am i going to kill her this time if i couldn't kill her last time?
