the minute the wall goes down i make my way back to the other base. there is another meeting that has been planned.
inside the back room stands kally, kassie, veronica kelly, one of her henchmen and myself of course. the henchman throws me off though. he's tall and gangly, his teeth yellowing and rotting at places. he sticks out a smooth hand in way of greeting. i take it. his grip is strong, too strong. i pull back instinctually. he smiles wider, exposing a missing tooth on the bottom line of teeth. the man gives me the creeps.
and then he begins talking.
"i'm sure you're all aware of the delicate situation we are in currently. you few who know the future we must protect surely understand that. in order for that future to prevail we must weed out the futures that could end our people. up until now there has been no real signs of katie being a danger to us, she is like her mother in this way. cunning, quiet, and lethal. you may be wondering how i know? i was one of the first to suspect her mother of being a traitor. do not be fooled by her words, her mother was a queen of deception. in order to prevent the future she wants we need to be more cunning than her. here," he passes me a small black box.
"inside that you will find a syringe. this syringe is filled with a tranquilizer strong enough to render her powerless. once she is incapacitated she is to be brought to the meeting place in that level is. the sooner it happens the better," he smiles and i'm once again exposed to his greasy yellow smile. his hair is long and looks waxy in the bad lighting from the lamp. he has a large scar that runs down his face and cuts across his nose in a crude way. i wonder how he has it still, because scars always heal when we regenerate.
i gulp and look down at the box.
"yessir," i state as i take it into my hands.
"after that point kassie and kally will keep her there until veronica arrives. from there she will handle the plan," he continues.
"we're not killing her right?" to my surprise it's kally that asks this.
"we will be sending her back to the human world after her crystal power is eliminated," he smiles. "there's no need to worry. she'll be returned to the human world unscathed," my body squirms as he speaks. and although i would like that to happen as much as anyone else i'm not sure it will.
"how will we make sure she doesn't come back?" i ask coldly.
"we will be revamping the guard area near the portal and will be informing them of the plan not to let her pass, it will all be alright. her mother was banished and we haven't seen her, so it will work," veronica states this. she looks more tired than usual. drained.
