i've never considered amy wise. i always thought she was a buffoon with a few more brain cells than the rest. i mean she has been hacking into stuff for so long now. but what she said at the door struck a chord with me. i'd never seen my own lack of honesty as a problem. in fact it's not that i'm not honest. i'm not open about myself. i lead everyone on about a litany of subjects so that i can distract them. i do the dangerous thing when i'm needed to be stable. but how can katie and i be similar? she doesn't take these kind of risks. she's not like me.
and then we head up to command and amy hacks into the computer. the longer i stare at katie the more i see it. the stoic demeanor. who does she tell her secrets to? who knows what's happening in her brain right now? there's a key point she leaves out of every commentary. as many rumors as there are i've never heard her talk or lash out about her mom. how is she so calm?
and although my anger replaces her stoicism in my life the thought sends a cold hard sense of dread down my spine. i never asked her what her side of the story is. i never asked because i didn't want to hear. i didn't want what she had to say to change how i look at the world.
"what am i looking at?" amy shuffles around the code inside the monitor. she places a hand next to the monitor and then closes her eyes. her faces shows something like a struggle. and then she opens her eyes just as suddenly as they slammed shut.
she plugs in some more information and before i know it i'm staring at an unlocked monitor screen with a plethora of data on it. katie and i pull into eachother as we hover above amy.
she clicks on several folders. several options. several singular documents. there's even a few images. it's all about the game. game tactics from past generations. more options for the protection of the base. i briefly wonder when the last time was that someone unlocked this. i don't think it was recently though, it feels like an easter egg.
an easter egg is something of legend within the game community. there are cases of a certain easter egg flipping the tide and costing the other team the award. but it's something else that catches my eye. amy's score is changing. it is elevating higher and higher. what exactly did she just do?
