It came naturally to Jisung, like it was programmed in his brain.
It showed in his walk, his manner and his look.
It came as naturally as the inexplicable joy that spread over his body caused by the killing intent. Much like as an animal hunting its prey. A tiger hunting a rabbit.
He became J.one and destruction, ruin, death was all part of it.
They decided to split ways when they approached the stair case. Jisung lost rock, paper, scissors and had to go down while Eric went up. They made a bet to see who could find a living person first although they could still hear the eerie echoes of gunshots and voices from somewhere in the massive building.
Jisung set off with a 'see ya' and descended into the gloom of the basement level floor.
The stairs were decorated with specks and flecks of blood and the blots and splatters got more concentrated further down.
He reached the landing of stairs at the bottom and averted his eyes from the pile of bodies flung carelessly to the side despite arms and legs scattered this way and that.
He picked the way to the door and pushed it open, the light hitting his eyes like a mum with a slipper.
"AHHH."
A dolphin pitch scream welcomed him and he took guard and aimed. "What the..."
He almost dropped the gun in surprise and another voice full of horror reached his ears.
"Jisung."
"Jeongin..."
Jisung looked his friend up and down in pure amazement. His face was dripping with blood like in the cctv footage, and his hair was tousled. He was rubbing his arm spitefully and casually holding the most expensive hand gun Jisung had ever seen.
"Why are you here." Seungmin emerged and left no time for shock after punching Jeongin for screaming.
He glanced Jisung up and down, surveying him critically.
"Where else am I meant to be." Jisung said in bewilderment.
Seungmin scoffed and brushed back his hair which was dyed a bright red, despite his usual golden fluffiness. He also delicately wiped his face with a cloth and handed it to Jeongin who did the same.
"You were meant to be away. Safe." He finally snapped and dragged Jeongin by the wrist, pulling him towards the stairs.
"There's no one left down here, we made sure of that." Jeongin said as Jisung glanced through the doors and followed them up.
Jeongin glanced at Seungmin then back at Jisung. "You're...it's not safe here. You were meant to be with Minho, safe. We were gonna sort this out... and tell you...but before..."
Jisung ignored him.
"Jisung please. I was going to tell you eventually."
"I already figured it out." Jisung said quietly. "But it's too late. Minho's already here."
Seungmin whipped around like an angered Asian mum and shared an annoyed expression with Jeongin.
"Of course he would come running after you."
"I came here after him."
They stared at him.
"Don't misunderstand...I ... his brother interfered and brought him here..somehow I saw you on the cctv and..."
"He's probably dead by now." Seungmin interrupted gloomily.
"Half of our base and business has been destroyed. And almost one third of our people has been wiped out."
'One third?' Jisung thought. 'Most of the dead people would be his brothers people then.'
"What happened?"
"What don't you know already. We've had an ongoing feud with some random group that emerged not too long ago.
The moment we took action after they flipped us off they had the audacity to invade and do this." He gestured around him. Jeongin put in unhelpfully. "Minho messed with the plans of keeping you safe from this group. They have a huge grudge against you. But you being tied up in Minho's basement was a lot safer than either of you being here. He would've set you free eventually, there's no way he wouldn't."
Jisung glanced at him, slightly annoyed at the remark at the end. Minho was more professional than that.
"Why is Minho here? And his brother? I thought he was meant to be dead."
Jisung ran his hands through his hair wildly. "I don't know either?! He should've stayed dead."
Jeongin tapped Seungmin arm. "If the brother is here, does that mean he's part of them..."
"What?"
"And Minho accidentally got involved because of his thing with Jisung. His brothers obsessiveness over catching J.one would go beyond his family connection with Minho especially if he's already faked his death once."
Seungmin nodded slowly.
"But Minho knows nothing about this. All he knows now is J.one's identity."
They reached the second floor where Eric had gone up and flung open the doors. Two men were lying face flat in front of the doors, streaks of blood still flowing from their heads which indicated a quick and recent death.
Jisung tried to fill the others in with the details as they crept through the corridors following the trails of blood made by Eric, mostly made by his shoes sticky with blood.
"So Eric came with me, Changbin and Hyunjin."
Seungmin stared in disbelief. "You brought those two idiots along?"
Jisung felt slightly hypocritical as he shrugged. "They're not that bad, they're still my friends J.one or no J.one."
"Weren't they mad at you?" Jeongin asked sardonically. "I was when I found out."
"What?"
The conversation jolted still as they came to the end of the blood trail. All footsteps and blood had vanished and they were in the doorway of an elongated hallway. Seungmin, who knew the building like the back of his hand shook his head and confirmed that he couldn't have just vanished.
They walked out into the hall. A posh, plainly decorated cream wallpaper with chestnut brown wooden panels stretching across either side of the hall.
At the very end the wall was curved like half of an circle and the glossy wood was guarded by two, highly varnished wooden columns.
Neatly placed in the middle of the curved wall was a clock, still ticking monotonously as the boys looked around in confusion.
"Crap, it's never been this quiet."
They couldn't even hear the echos of fighting anymore. But just the ticking of the clock.
Jisung shook the hair out of his eyes. "If Eric..."
"He can't be." Seungmin interrupted. "He's the most tenacious person I've ever met."
"If this is a trap..."
Jisung walked to the nearest door, just one of which occasionally decorated the side of the hall.
"Let's just open them one by one."
Jeongin started to protest but Jisung had already tried the handle and kicked it down after finding it was locked. They immediately pointed their guns inside and followed him grimly.
It was a large room. Empty apart from a sofa and a desk with a computer. Jisung noticed the door had no key hole and was locked by a bolt on the inside.
"Seungmin. Are there ways to get out apart from the door."
He shrugged and Jeongin nodded. "There's always two or three exits in case of emergency. But these rooms were just used as offices."
