So, there's going to be a point when I will need to end this book and make a part 2. It won't be soon, trust me, but I'm working on covers. For the next couple of chapters I'll be posting potential covers in the media. Let me know which ones you like best. I'll count votes. The one I posted now is my favorite so far.

Being injured was something Jim Kirk never liked, but it happened often. What made his injuries worse is that he couldn't walk that well, and he has a busy toddler that runs around everywhere.

Xander Kirk ran around his families quarters, anxious to continue exploring the small room. He may be in here all the time, but everything seemed so new. His father, Jim Kirk, was laying on the bed.

His leg was broken and he couldn't leave bed. It was broken to the point where too much movement of the muscles in his leg would make it worse. Jim was usually pretty good at keeping Xander under control, but this time it wasn't working.

"Xander, please stop running. Sit on the bed with me. Daddy's hurt and he can't chase you." Jim said, keeping his temper under control. Xander just laughed at him and started running around again, this time faster.

"Daddy can't catch me! Daddy can't catch me!" Xander chanted. He punched a code into the door and ran outside the room.

"Xander no!" Jim yelled, rolling off of the bed. He winced once his casted leg hit the ground. He dragged him self into the hall, where Xander sat, just out of his reach.

"Daddy can't catch me!" Xander yelled with a large grin on his face. He continued moving out of Jim's reach.

"Xander, come back here right now!" Jim said, slowly raising his voice. Xander giggled and stuck his tongue out. "Xander get back here!"

"No!" Xander yelled, running into the turbo lift. The doors closed and the turbo lift moved up. Anxiously, Jim pulled himself into the next turbo lift and requested he be taken to the floor the last one was taken too. It was the bridge.

The turbo lift opened on the bridge and a giggling Xander Kirk ran out. He ran down and stood behind the captains chair. He motioned to Spock and the rest of the crew to be quiet.

The turbo lift opened again and Jim Kirk dragged himself out. Spock immediately stood up to assist the captain over to a chair. "Thanks Spock." He grumbled when he sat down.

"Captain, are you here for your son?" Spock asked, picking up Xander from behind the chair.

"Mr. Spock!" Xander protested, fighting against Spock's grasp. "This isn't how you play!"

"Xander, I don't think you are playing a game right now. You are running from your father. Lt. Uhura has already alerted your mother and Doctor McCoy." Spock said, getting a tighter grip on Xander.

As if on que, Doctor McCoy walked onto the bridge. "Jim! What are you doing out of bed?! Your leg can't be moved too much, it'll get worse, it'll-"

"Bones, stop talking. I'm fine." Jim insisted, wincing as McCoy touched the cast.

"Oh yeah, you winced. Your not fine." McCoy added, scanning his leg with a tri-order. Spock had set Xander in Chekov's lap. He was now attempting to push buttons, which caused Chekov to find an app that lets little kids press buttons and nothing happens.

You walked onto the bridge to an interesting sight. Your husband was sitting on a chair, his injured leg extended in front of him while a concerned doctor and an emotionless Vulcan watched over him. Your son was sitting on Chekov's lap, pushing buttons on the console.

"What happened?" You ask, taking Xander from Chekov.

"Well," Jim started, "He ran away, I dragged myself after him. Xander came to the bridge, so I came to the bridge. That's the short version."

"Why did you run away?!" You ask Xander.

"Daddy can't catch me. It was fun." Xander responded.

Wow, you had one weird family.
