"C'mon dad, let's play a game! I'm bored!" Your oldest son complained to your husband, Hikaru. Hikaru laughed and nodded.

"Okay, what do you want to play?" Hikaru agreed, getting a competitive turn.

"3D chess." Daniel, your son, answered.

"Alright. Get the board." Hikaru said, a smug look on his face. Daniel squinted his eyes and got up to get the board. You and your other son, Ryder, we're watching from the other side of the room.

Daniel returned with the board and began to set it up. You picked up Ryder, who was only three, and walked out the door. Before you left, you stopped and turned to Hikaru and Daniel.

"Please don't kill each other while we're gone." You say, knowing how competitive those two can be.

"Yeah yeah." They both muttered, their eyes glued to the board.

"Are we going to have to lock them in separate rooms again?" Ryder asked you.

"I don't know, buddy." You answer, giving him a hug.

Daniel was nine years older than Ryder, and he could be intimidating. Hikaru and Daniel were the most competitive people you've met. They were more like best friends than father and son.

"Alright kiddo, you're going down." Hikaru told Daniel. He just rolled his eyes and smirked.

"We'll see old man." Daniel muttered, moving pieces.

Halfway through the game, Daniel was loosing exponentially.  "OW!" Daniel screamed clutching his leg. Hikaru immediately stopped playing and looked at his leg.

"Are you okay?" Hikaru asked, reaching down towards Daniel's leg. Using the back of his arm, Daniel swept the board off of the table.

"Yeah I'm fine." He said, sitting up as if nothing happened.

"Nice move." Hikaru said, smiling smugly.

You walked back into the quarters with Ryder. Hikaru and Daniel were staring at each other, smiling smugly. "Did they hurt each other?" Ryder whispered to you.

"Doesn't look like it." You whisper. "Hey guys!" You say to them, walking cautiously towards the table.

"Hi, hey what's up?" They both started saying, looking away from each other and smiling at you.

"Nothing. How was the game." You say, just a a you notice the chess pieces on the ground. "That good huh?"

"Oh, it was fine. Nothing I can't handle." Hikaru said.

"I wasn't that bad!" Daniel shouted.

"Maybe not this time!" Hikaru shouted back.

The two of them started arguing, causing Ryder to run into the other room. You followed.

As weird as they were, you loved your family.
