In your opinion, your son was the best thing in the world. It was too bad your husband couldn't be here when he was born. Your husband, Leonard, had already finished a five year mission aboard the USS Enterprise, that's where he met you. When the two of you returned, you got married.

Two months later, Leonard was told he needed to go on another space mission, this one lasting a year. You had to stay on Earth. Five days after he left you found out you were pregnant with his child. You didn't have anyway to contact him and tell him. It's been eleven and a half months sense Leonard left. He was coming home today, and would also meet his son, Carter. Thsi would be one big surprise.

You had spent the entire day cleaning the house, only stopping when Carter started crying. He slept most of the day though. That night, Leonard came home. You hugged and kissed him.

"Leonard." You say, while hugging him.

"Hey, Y/N! I missed you so much." Leonard said kissing you.

"I missed you too." You say kissing him back. "hey there's something I need to tell you about before you left."

"What is it?'' He asked, cautiously, hoping it wasn't bad news. You took his hand and walked upstairs to Carter's room. You open the door and he gasps.

"Leonard," you say picking up Carter carefully so he doesn't wake up. "This is your son, Carter Michael." You say.

"So you were pregnant when I left?" Leonard asked, walking closer to Carter and you. You nod.

"I found out five days after you left." You say, bouncing Carter, who had woken up now. He didn't cry. He doesn't cry much.

"You woke him up and he isn't crying?" Leonard asked shocked. You nod again.

"He doesn't cry much." You answer, handing Carter to Leonard. He picked him up and held him close. Carter, only being four months old, looked tiny. "So I take it your happy with this news."

"Are you kidding? I have a son! A handsome little boy." Leonard said, smiling at Carter.

"How was your mission?" You ask him. He shrugs.

"Kinda boring. It was nothing compared to this." Leonard answered, still in shock. Suddenly, he looked up. "You were alone through the pregnancy weren't you!"

"No, Jim was here the whole time." You answer. He sighed.

"So Jim got to know about and meet my child before I even knew about him." He said, frustrated. "I'm sorry, Y/N." he added setting Carter back in his crib.

"Why are you sorry? You were at work saving lives, it's not your fault." You say walking out of the room with Leonard.

"I just wish I was here." he said. You kissed him.

"Maybe next time." you say.

"Next time?"
