Buck walks out of the locker room, nearly skidding to a stop when he sees his parents standing there.

"Evan," Philip says with a firm nod.

"What are you guys doing here?"

"Is that any way to greet your parents?"

"Buck!" Bobby shouts as he makes his way down the stairs, "everything okay over here?"

Buck glances towards his parents before turning back to Bobby, "yeah, thanks."

Margaret and Philip watch as Bobby reluctantly leaves the fire house.

"My shift's over. I have plans, what do you guys want?"

"Dinner," Margaret says, realizing she needed to speak quickly, "at a restaurant of your choosing on a date of your choosing. Just us three, to talk."

"I-can I think about it?"

"Yes. Just let us know," Margaret says.

Buck watches as his parents leave the fire house. He waits a long moment before he makes his own way out to the parking lot.

"I'm sorry, you want to do what?" Maddie exclaims as Buck and Tommy sit at the table with her and Chimney.

"They invited me, Mads," Buck says softly.

"Correct me if I'm wrong, but we're trying to better your mental health, right?" Tommy questions.

"Yeah, bu-."

"You were inconsolable the last time you had dinner with them," Maddie says.

"I was n-."

"You broke down in my arms," Tommy quickly interrupts.

"Okay, so maybe last time was hard, but I can h-."

"Are you seriously about to say you can handle it?" Maddie asks.

"Maddie, I can."

"And what about when they bring up Daniel?" Maddie asks, "you can never get through a conversation about him."

"Maddie," Tommy says softly.

"You want me to prove I can? You want me to talk about Daniel? What should I talk about first? How I never met him? How I was created to save him and he still died?"

"Okay, okay," Maddie says, "you just made my point for me."

"I take it Maddie doesn't know you're here," Margaret says as the three sit at the table.

"Why do you say that?"

"You chose a resturaunt an hour out of the city and during Maddie's shift," Philip says, "I'm assuming Thomas doesn't know either?"

"Okay, fine. They don't know. Now, why am I here?"

"We owe you an apology, Evan."

"A what?" Buck actually can't believe what he's hearing.

"An apology."

"For..." Buck's voice trails off.

"We've unknowingly held Daniel's death against you. We have expected you to be Daniel, but now we know. You're not Daniel."

"Right," he nods softly, reaching into his pocket and pulling out a twenty, placing it on the table, "thanks for this."

Buck walks out, ignoring the protests of his parents. He walks down the street to the bus station.

"Hey, is Kinard here?"

"Yeah, Kinard!"

Tommy walks around the corner, smiling when he sees who his visitor is, "hey, Ev."

"Hey," Buck says, pulling a smile to his face.

Tommy sighs, "please tell me you didn't."

"Remember when me made the deal to never lie to one another?" Buck says with a quiet chuckle.

"Hey, Peters!" Tommy shouts as he turns around, "I've got a family emergency, can you call in a sub?"

"Yeah, no problem, Kinard."

"You lied," Buck says as they get into Tommy's car.

"No, I didn't."

"You said you had a family emergency," Buck reiterates.

"I do. You're my family and in crisis."

"I'm your family?"

"Hell yeah, you are."
