"Eddie, you should sit," Chimney says softly as he watches the veteran pace back and forth in front of where the others are sitting.
"If you saw him, you wouldn't be able to sit," Eddie says as he keeps pacing.
"I saw him, Eddie. I saw him, and I'm sitting, because I know I can't change anything by pacing," Athena says.
"I can't," Eddie says softly.
"Okay, why don't we go and get a coffee, then? Maybe some food?" Bobby suggests.
"I'll call you the second we hear something, I promise," Maddie says softly.
Bobby slowly guides Eddie down the hall and to the elevator. Eddie just stares at the metal doors as they close, his eyes fixating on the reflection.
"If we weren't in his apartment, I wouldn't have known it was him, Bobby," Eddie says softly.
"Athena told me the scene was one of the rough ones to look at," Bobby says.
"Rough," Eddie lets out a chuckle, "it looked like he was inside out there was so much blood, but yeah, rough covers it."
"Ed-."
"I'm going to find Tommy," Eddie speaks monotonously, now.
"And what? Do the same thing to him?"
"It's the-."
"You're right, he deserves far worse. He does, but what about after you beat him into oblivion? What then? You get arrested. That's what. Then, Buck lives with knowing you're in prison because of him. You know him, Eddie. He'll blame himself," Bobby says just as the elevator opens.
"yeah, but there's a problem with what you said," Eddie says.
"What's that?"
"'Buck lives'."

"Hey," Eddie looks up from the floor of the waiting room to see a face he didn't expect to see.
"TK," he says in shock as he stands, pulling him into a bro hug, "Sargent Grant called Carlos."
"What? Why?"
"Well, uhm," TK scratches the back of our head, "we talked to Buck and Tommy a lot."
"Okay? And?"
"We're here to help. Well, Carlos is going to help find Tommy. I'm going to help you pray, stay sane, whatever you need."
"Don't take this the wrong way, but why?" Eddie asks, "you and I barely talked in Texas."
"Well, Buck didn't shut up about you. When he finally had his gay awakening-or bi awakening in his case, I was kind of surprised," TK says.
"Surprised?"
"Yeah, I mean, that you weren't the cause of the awakening," TK says.
"Yeah, right. Buck and me. That's funny," Eddie responds awkwardly.
"Don't you two raise a kid?"
"Fair enough," Eddie says with a chuckle as he looks at the Texas paramedic.

"Family of Evan Buckley?" Eddie and everyone else stand as the doctor approaches.
"I'm Maddie, his sister. Is my brother okay?"
"He came in with severe injuries. While most of his abdominal wounds were mild, with the exception of a bruised rib, his head injury was more worrisome. Upon imaging, a brain bleed was detected. We rushed him to the operation room and evacuated the bleed. Unfortunately, due to the location of the bleed, only time will tell if it has any lasting impacts on his cognition," the doctor explains.
"Oh my God," Maddie says as she covers her mouth.
"Now, we wanted to wait until he woke up and we could run some preliminary tests on him. Now, two at a time, you can see him," the doctor says, "he's in room 6341."
"Eddie," Maddie says as the doctor walks away, "you go first. I'll be up in a few minutes. I should call my parents."
"Yeah, okay," Eddie says softly.
Eddie walks down the hall, following signs that direct him to the proper room. He nervously knocks on the door before walking into the room. While Buck is no longer covered in blood, he is covered in bruises and cuts, The gash on his head that scared Eddie is now stitched up. He has a bandage wrapped around his head from the surgery.
"Hey," Eddie says softly.
"Hey?" Buck lets out a soft chuckle, "you save my life and all you say is hey?"
"Uh, you're welcome?"
"Better," Buck responds with a gentle laugh, groaning in pain afterwards.
"Here, take it easy," Eddie rushes to Buck's side.
"Hey, relax," buck says softly.
"Do you want to talk about it?" Eddie asks as he sits on the edge of the bed carefully.
"I'm fine," Buck says.
"Buck, maybe you could talk to Ma-."
"He wasn't Doug. He beat me once," Buck says, "don't get me wrong, he is a total piece of shit, but Doug was a monster."
"Buck, I saw what he did. It seemed pretty monstrous."
"Yeah, well, he wasn't as bad as Doug."
"That doesn't mean your trauma isn't valid," Eddie says.
"Look at you," Buck says, "your therapy must be working."
Eddie chuckles, "well, I had to vent to someone about my... love life."
"And why not to me?"
"Well, it's kind of awkward to vent about someone to that person," Eddie says.
"You'd vent about me when venting about your love life? Why?" Buck is silent for a minute, "wait, you're-."
"I'm gay, Buck, yes," Eddie says with a chuckle.
"And y-you-."
"Buck, listen," Eddie says, "I don't want you to feel awkward around me, okay? I don't care if you're in my life as a friend or as more, okay? You're just getting out of a horrendous situation. I don't want to add to your stress. I just got too close to losing you this time."
"Give me time, say six months?"
"Six months? For what?"
"Well, for me to help myself get to a place where I can start something new. Until then, we're friends."
"Deal," Eddie says as he holds his hand out.
"Deal."
