•Title: "Abandonment issues"
•Requester: DarrianMarks
•Warnings: angst, abandonment, season 7 spoilers
•Inspiration: the request
•Type: angsty but with some fluff
A/N: Okay, so, time to get deep, I have VERY bad abandonment issues. I get attached to objects. Personally, I think it's connected to my autism.

Tommy knocks on the door for the fifth time, "Evan, I just talked to Chimney. Can you let me in?"
He can vaguely hear the sound of a groan, followed by footsteps. The door opens to reveal a disheveled Buck. He has dark bags under his eyes, his body is pain, and his hair is going in every direction.
"Hey," Buck says softly.
"Hey," Tommy says as he walks past Buck into the apartment. He looks around, "it's pretty dark in here."
"Is it?"
"Yeah, it is," Tommy takes off his jacket and places it over one of the chairs at the table, "so, Chimney told me about Chri-."
"I don't want to talk about it," Buck interrupts.
"Evan, I know how much you love him. You're practically his second father," Tommy says.
Buck laughs, "practically? I took him to see Santa more times than I can count. I have played more video games with him than I have in my entire life. He isn't practically my son, Tommy. He is my son."
"Okay, you're right. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to diminish that relationship," Tommy says.
"My son is across the country, Tommy," Buck says with a chuckle, "and I don't know if he's coming back."

Maddie sighs as she opens the door, taking her key out of the lock, "hey, it's just me. I'm bringing over some food."
She walks over and places her bags on the island counter. She walks around the granite and begins to place Tupperware containers into the fridge.
"Maddie," she turns around, giving her younger brother a sad smile as she approaches him, "I've told you that I'm fine."
"That's why you're ignoring Tommy so much that he's calling Chimney freaking out?" Maddie questions with her arms crossed
Buck simply shrugs, walking towards the fridge and opening it, giving Maddie hope that she will finally have visual confirmation that he's eating. The hope is short-lived when he turns around, a beer in his hand.
"If you're going to insist on coming by every other day, could you bring me more beer next time?"
"Do you remember when I left?"
"Which time?"
"Buck, that's no-."
"The time you left me for a boy or the time you left your daughter?"
"Wow," Maddie says with a fed up chuckle, "that was low."
Buck sighs, "you're right. I-."
"I'll see you on Friday."

Buck groans as he hears a knock on the door. He stands up from the chair and steps over the empty beer bottles as he walks towards the door. He opens it, revealing Bobby, Maddie, Tommy, Chimney, Hen, and Karen.
"This can't be good," Buck says as he walks back towards the sitting room, kicking aside beer cans. The others follow him, his eyes saddening as he glances around the loft.
"So, what's up, guys?"
"We're worried about you," Maddie says.
"Well, clearly not THAT worried. Eddie's not here. Neither is Athena."
"Athena has work and we wanted to do this as soon as we could," Bobby explains.
"Whatever," Buck says.
"Buck, this isn't you," Maddie says.
"Actually," Buck says as he opens a new beer, pointing towards his sister, "it's exactly like me. You just don't know me that well. How could you? You left."
"Buck," Chimney says with a warning tone.
"You know what it's like to be left by her, Chim. Or did you forget punching me and not answering my texts or calls after you left?" Buck's voice is steadier than his balance.
"Okay, that's enough," Bobby says.
Buck chuckles, "oh, yeah! Of course, you're here, When aren't you here. Oh, right. When you quit."
"Buck, look at me," Hen says, "I haven't left you, right? You know I love you."
"You haven't left me," Buck says, "but that's because you couldn't leave firefighting after Karen almost died."
"Wow," Karen says.
Buck raises his arms in surrender, "don't be mad at me. I'm just speaking the truth."
"Okay, everyone out," Tommy says.
Once everyone walks out, Buck places his beer on the counter. He turns back towards Tommy, who is looking at him with a saddened expression.
"What the hell, Evan?" Tommy questions.
"What?"
"Your loft smells like a bar, you're being a dick to everyone who loves you, shall I go on?"
Buck sighs and walks towards the stairs, sitting on them, "didn't you hear? Everyone leaves."
"Oh," Tommy sits, "like Christopher."
"Maddie, my ex, my ex again, Eddie, Maddie, Chimney, then Christopher," Buck lists, "that's probably not even all of them."
"Ev-."
"You're next, right?" Buck looks next to him at Tommy.
"What? You think I'm going to leave?" Tommy looks at him in shock.
"Why not? It's the newest trend. All the cool kids are doing it," Buck responds.
"Listen to me," Tommy says as he cups Buck's cheeks, "it will take a lot-and I mean a lot-for me to leave. I love you, okay? I don't plan on leaving anytime soon. I promise you, I'm here."
Buck sighs and moves to lean against Tommy's body, "I owe them all apologies. I can't believe what I said to them. To Maddie."
"Let that be a problem for another day," Tommy says softly as he looks around, "when you're sober."
Buck tilts his head back to look up the stairs, "oh, God. How am I supposed to get to my bed?"
"Like this," Tommy says as he stands up, picking Buck up into his arm with ease, causing the younger man to chuckle.
"Are you going to carry me like this if we get married?" Buck asks as he's carried up the stairs
"Oh, if? Not sure you want a life with me, Buckley?"
"Oh, Kinard, if I could, I would have married you the day we met."
"Cute, Evan, but it'd mean more if you were sober," Tommy says as he lays Buck on the bed.
Since Buck is wearing sweatpants, he doesn't bother getting him stripped for bed.
