"Thank you for coming," Buck says as he and Eddie walk up towards Maddie and Chimney's house.

"Of course," Eddie responds, "I will never let you face them alone."

Buck reaches forward and knocks against the door loudly, "here we go."

Maddie has a big smile-that Buck can see is clearly formed from insanity-as she opens the door. She hugs Buck and Eddie separately, whispering her gratitude to the veteran for his presence.

"Oh, Evan!" Margaret says as she hugs her son when he walks into the living room.

"Hi, mom," Buck says softly.

"You look better," Philip speaks in his usual firm tone.

"Yeah, I recovered quickly," Buck responds quietly as Eddie and Maddie enter, "mom, dad, you remember Eddie Diaz."

"Yes, your firefighter friend," Margaret says as she turns to Eddie, "you have the son, right? The one who came to see Buck in his coma?"

"Yes, ma'am, Christopher."

"He's an adorable young boy," Margaret beams.

"Thank you, ma'am."

"Please, call me Margaret."

"Shall we eat?" Chimney suggests as he enters from the kitchen, gesturing towards the dining room.

"Yes! I'm starving," Buck says with a cheeky grin as they all walk into the room.

Maddie and Chimney sit on either end of the table. Margaret sits across from Buck, Philip across from Eddie. Buck and Eddie are seated with their backs to the patio door. Maddie's back is to the hallway that leads to the kitchen. Chimney's back is to the wall while the two parents are seated with their backs to the living room. Jee is in her room asleep, having eaten an hour earlier.

As they eat, the conversation focuses on Maddie's work at the call center and Jee. Occasionally, they discuss recent calls the 118 went on. This earns scowls from Margaret and the subject is quickly changed.

After everyone finishes their meals, Buck and Maddie take everyone's dishes into the kitchen. Just as they walk into the kitchen to grab dessert, Jee begins to fuss in her room. Chimney jumps up to go to his daughter, leaving Eddie, Margaret, and Philip in the dining room.

"So, you and Evan are dating, yes?" Margaret asks with what seems like a kind smile.

"Yes we are." Eddie responds.

"Maddie and Evan tell us that you have a son, right?" Margaret questions.

"Yeah, Christopher. He absolutely adores Buck," Eddie responds.

"Oh. You let Christopher around Evan?"

"Yes, why wouldn't I?" Eddie questions, his body tensing. He knows that the two parents have a not so nice opinion on their son, so he is trying to prepare himself to remain calm.

"Well, Evan is a," Philip's voice trails off as he seems to search his mind for a word. Buck and Maddie start to walk towards the dining room, Maddie stopping Buck as she hears the conversation.
