Buck places the dishes in the sink before returning to the table, "so, enough about my shift. How was yours?"

Tommy puts his wine glass down and swallows what's in his mouth, "well, it was pretty cut and dry, nothing too crazy."

"Do you like the calmer days or do you prefer the shifts that never seem to end?" Buck questions.

"Well, the calmer shifts seem to go by slower, but I'm always absolutely exhausted after the never ending ones. Like, this time last fall, we went on at least thirty calls. Some were small, like an animal in a tree, then a guy got himself stuck in a door knob hole."

"What did he do, put his hand through and couldn't get it back out?" Buck questions.

"Not his hand," Tommy says as he takes another sip of wine.

"Oh," Buck says before there's a knock on the door and he stands, "oh."

Tommy laughs as he watches Buck open the door. When his boyfriend just stands there, he then stands, "what's wrong?"

"Uh," Buck says, prompting Tommy to walk over to see a baby in a carrier, "did you order a baby?"

"Evan, what did you do?" Tommy asks as he picks the carrier up and brings it into the apartment.

"I think a more appropriate question is who did I do?"

Tommy looks at Buck from the baby, "really? A joke? Now?"

"I'm sorry, you're right," Buck looks at the baby and sees an envelope sticking out from behind the bundle of sleeping joy. He grabs it and slips a letter out.

Buck,

I am sorry to do this to you, but I just can't take care of her anymore. This is your daughter, Skyla Rose Buckley. She is three months old. I signed and enclosed papers giving you full custody. Do what you want.

Sincerely,

Natalia

"What does it say?" Tommy asks softly.

"I-I have a kid," Buck says, handing the letter over.

"Ev, what do you want to do?" Tommy asks when he finishes reading.

"I don't want her to grow up thinking she wasn't wanted. She's my daughter, Tommy. I can't give her up."

"Okay, well, then we should get some supplies," Tommy recently says.

Buck nods and looks in the small bag that was connected to the carrier, pulling out two outfits and six diapers and a pack of wipes along with formula and two bottles and a pacifier.

"She's three months old. How is this all she sent with her?" Buck says as he looks at everything laid out in front of him.

"Why don't you call Maddie? She probably still has some of Jee-Yun's clothes," Tommy suggests."

"Yeah, and she probably has bottles and all that stuff," Buck says as he takes out his phone.

"Okay, I'm here," Maddie says as she walks in with Chimney, both of them carrying totes.

"Thank you," Buck says as he rushes to take the totes away from his sister.

"Can I meet my niece now?" Maddie asks.

"Uh, yeah, sure. She's back in the carrier," Buck says, "Tommy's upstairs with her right now while I try to search for anything Jee used here."

"Hey, breathe," Maddie says with a chuckle.

"You had nine months. I had no time whatsoever."

"Okay, good point," Chimney says.

Before anything else can be said, the sound of a baby crying followed by footsteps is heard. Tommy walks over and hands the baby to Buck.

"I think she wants her dad," Tommy says softly as he grabs a bottle and begins to prepare formula.

"Wow," Maddie says, "she looks just like you."

"She is beautiful, Buck," Chimney says, "so, her name's Skyla?"

"Yeah. Skyla Rose Buckley," Buck responds, "oh, nobody knows. I plan to surprise everyone at the barbecue this weekend."

+ + + + +

"So, Buck asked for a plus one?" Athena questions as her and Bobby prepare the deck.

"Yeah, and I told him that we already invited Tommy, but he insisted on it. But he said this person won't eat much," Bobby responds.

"Bobby, I swear if he brings in a dog-."

"It's not a d- okay, he might bring a dog."

Two hours later, Tommy walks into the house first. He's in a simple polo shirt and jeans. Following him, Buck walks in. In his arms, he holds Skyla's carrier and he has a diaper bag draped over his shoulder.

"Hey, B-." Athena pauses, "Evan Buckley, whose baby is that?!?"

"Mine," Buck says as he looks up nervously at everyone.

Everyone has the same reaction, to cup their mouth with their hands with wide eyes. Bobby rushes over and takes the diaper bag from Buck so that he is carrying less. Buck places the carrier down and lifts Skyla into his arms, facing everyone.

"118, I want you to meet my daughter, Skyla Rose Buckley," he says, "Skyla, this is your family."
