Tk smiles when he walks down the stairs of the firehouse to see Carlos and Maisie, their ten year old daughter standing there. Carlos always takes her to the fire station after school if TK is working.

"Hey, sweetie, how was school?" TK asks Maisie as he guides them to the lounge area.

"Good, I got a 100 on my spelling test," Maisie says as she sits on the couched hands it to TK.

"Wow, that's incredible, babygirl!" TK exclaims, hugging her.

"What did you learn today in the fifth grade, Ms. Reyes-Strand?" Judd asks as he, Mateo, and Marjan walk into the room.

"We were given a really important assignment," she responds.

"What's it on?" Carlos asks, this being the first time she's mentioned it.

"9/11," she says and everyone freezes, looking at TK.

"What do you need to do for it?" Carlos asks softly.

"I have to ask a group of people who were alive then where they were," Maisie responds.

"Okay, that seems easy enough," Marjan says.

"Daddy, you were in New York, right?"

"I was, how did you know that?" TK responds.

"You and papa were talking about it last night," she responds simply.

"You heard that?" Carlos asks softly.

"So, daddy, where were you?" Maisie asks.

"I was at home. I was getting ready for school. My mom was watching the news when I heard her cry out in fear. When I ran into the room, the news was showing the footage of the towers, firemen rushing into the building," TK says softly.

"Sweetie, we should continue this at home," Carlos says softly.

"But what about Grandpa Owen? He lived in New York too," Maisie says softly.

"I'll be right back," TK says before leaving the room.

"Judd, can you watch her?" Carlos asks as he follows TK desperately.

"Sure thing, brother," Judd says as he sits with Maisie, getting her to show him her homework.

"TK?" Carlos walks into the bunk room to find his husband crying.

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have just walked away," TK says.

"It's okay, baby. You relived a trauma," Carlos says.

"How are we going to tell her about my dad?" TK asks.

"We be honest," Carlos says, wiping away TK's tears as the two return to their daughter.

"Hi, daddy, hi Papa! Can I talk to Grandpa Owen now?" Maisie asks excitedly.

"Actually, Maisie, we don't think that's a good idea," Carlos says as they sit down.

"What's wrong? That's the voice you had when you told me Daddy was sick and in the hospital," Maisie says worriedly.

"Well, we just wanted to tell you why we don't think you should ask your grandpa about 9/11," TK responds.

"Because he was in the city, right?" Maisie asks.

"Well, yes but it's more than that," Carlos says.

"Your grandpa wasn't just in the city. He was a firefighter in the city. He went into the towers," Tk begins softly, "your grandma was so worried because she knew when seeing the firefighters on the tv that my dad was one of them. He made it out of the towers that day, but none of his friends did."

"He was there?" Maisie asks with tears in her eyes.

"Yes," TK responds.

"Is that why you freak out over grandpa so much?"

"Maybe. When we watched the towers fall, we didn't know that Grandpa had gotten out," TK says as Judd, Marjan, and Mateo all look at each other.

"So you thought you had just watched your dad d-" Mateo starts to say, his mouth being covered my Judd's arm.

"I'm sorry, daddy," Maisie says as she hugs him, "I'm happy grandpa Owen survived."

"Me too, Maisie, me too."
