A/N: In this, Judd and TK are bio brothers. Gwyn will be a bad mom. Well, a horrible mom. Also, Judd is only three five years older than TK-not ten. Also, I changed quite a few things.
_____ _____ _____
Judd remembers the day he was taken away from his little brother. Their father and Gwyn-TK's mother-had gotten divorced. Gwyn was given full custody of TK. Owen was transferred to Texas and he had no choice but to move 1,748 miles away. Judd was fifteen when that happened. He was old enough to see that Gwyn was unstable. He was never able to comprehend why Gwyn was given custody. He had tried to hold onto TK the day he and Owen moved. He still remembers TK's scream as Gwyn pulled him away. Judd remembers the terror on the ten year old's face.
TK remembers it too. He remembers it all too well. However, he remembers it differently. He remembers Judd willingly leaving him. That, of course, isn't accurate. After his father and brother left, TK's life went to hell. TK's traumatized brain blamed it on the thing that happened right before the sudden change-Owen and Judd leaving.
TK's life was filled with abuse surrounding him. His mom very occasionally hit him and called him horrible names. It started that first night when he wouldn't stop crying over Owen and Judd. It never really stopped after that. When he went to school, what was at first an escape, quickly became the opposite. When he made what he quickly considered to be a stupid decision to come out as gay, the bullying began. It was, at first, indirect bullying. Kids would refuse to sit with him in the cafeteria, would beg teachers for different partners, and more. It then became physical when he tried out for the school baseball team. The other kids didn't like him changing and showering with them. Typical homophobia. After his worst beating, when he ended up in the hospital, he vowed to never tell someone he's gay ever again. His mom's hits and the bullies' punches aren't even the worst things he endures. At the age of twelve, TK gained a stepfather-Ryan. Ryan was amazing at first. TK almost hoped that the man would be his savior. Oh, how he was wrong. Once Ryan became aware of TK's sexuality, he began to abuse him horribly in heinous ways. TK used to pray that some force out in the universe would take him out, end it all. He could do it himself, but a voice in the back of his head kept talking him out of it. The voice was that of his big brother.
It's just a month after TK's fifteenth birthday when his life changes all over again. He's in his last period of the day at school. He has a brand new black eye, so his head is in his notebook.
"TK," he looks up at his teacher's voice, now noticing the guidance counselor standing there, "Ms. Hidle wants to speak with you."
Ms. Hidle is a kind looking woman. She has long and curly black hair that is pulled back with a hair tie. She has flawless caramel skin and always has a smile. She has an energy about her that shows that she truly cares for the students.
TK's hands shake as he grabs his things. His immediate assumption is that she wants to discuss the bruise. On numerous occasions, he has been asked by teachers and other staff members for a name. Each time, he refused to give a name and gave a half-baked excuse.
TK follows the woman out of the room and down the hall to her office. Inside, a man and woman stand there. They're both wearing police uniforms.
"This is Tyler Kennedy," Ms. Hidle speaks calmly.
