Buck wants to scream. He has only been at home for a week and a half, but he is already going insane. Margaret and Philip, despite their past, have been really caring towards him. They're not overbearing like he and Maddie suspected, more just there if he needs them. He is constantly watching the news, specifically when there's a fire. His eyes are always glued to the television to search for Eddie, smiling when he finds his boyfriend. Eddie also comes over for a bit after his shifts and brings Chris over on his days off. Margaret and Philip are beyond happy to see Chris and Buck interact, talking between themselves about their 'grandson'. Buck and Edie don't hear, but Chris does.

So, Buck wants to scream. It's the middle of the afternoon, around the time Eddie's shift ends. Buck is cleaning up the apartment, but it's just to keep him busy. The loft isn't that dirty. He stops cleaning when he hears his phone let out a single chime. He walks over to it to see a new text message.

From Eds:

Hey, cowboy. I hate to do this, but Carla couldn't help take care of Christopher this afternoon and I was planning to get off my shift and rush to his school. I can't, though. We're in the engine heading to a call. Could you please pick him up and watch him until I get home?

From Evan:

Yeah, no problem

Buck smiles happily as he rushes to his closet. He throws a button up shirt over his tee shirt before pulling on a pair of jeans. He walks down the stairs and slips his shoes on before tying them.

"And where are you off to?" Margaret asks with a smile as she finishes putting groceries away.

"I have to pick Christopher up from school," Buck says simply.

"Oh, I was just about to make some brownies. Will you be bringing him here?" Margaret smiles brightly.

Buck chuckles, "yes, mom. I'm bringing him here."

"Oh, good!" Margaret clasps her hands together with an even better smile. Buck chuckles as he grabs his keys before leaving his apartment, shaking his head at his mother's antics.

Buck walks into the school and walks over to the sign-out desk, "Hi, I'm here for Christopher Diaz. My name's Evan Buckley."

"Can I see some ID?"

"Here," Buck hands his license over with a kind smile.

"What is your relationship to the child?"

"I'm his-"

"Dad!" Buck spins to see Christopher walking to him quickly.

Buck sputters slightly as he picks Christopher up. He places him on the ground before spinning to sign the paper.

"Actually, I can't release him to you. You're not Carla or Mr. Diaz," the woman says.

"Excuse me?" Buck questions, "I'm his father's boyfriend."

"He's my other dad," Christopher says sternly.

"Ew, you have two dads? No wonder you're a freak," a kid questions from next to them.

"James! That is not nice," the woman says with him before looking at Buck, "I'm so sorry. He just got back from a week with his dad, whose homophobic father is in town."

Buck looks at Christopher, who speaks up, "it's alright. I understand he's just jealous because he only gets to have one dad."

Buck chuckles before turning to glare at the previous woman, "now, can I take my son and leave?"

"Y-yes, please just sign here."

Buck signs the paper before leading Christopher out to his car and helping him in. The ride back to his apartment is quick and filled with the two screaming along to the radio. Unfortunately, Buck's elevator is broken, so he carries Chris on his back up the stairs. He doesn't place him on the ground until they are in his apartment. Actually, he places him on the couch as he lets out a loud giggle. Margaret laughs and plates a brownie before taking it over to Christopher.

It's about an hour before Eddie walks into the apartment. He greets Buck with a gentle kiss, "how was he?"

Buck looks over to where Christopher is playing a card game with Margaret and Philip-who came back from seeing Jee. He smiles at the sight, "he was great, Eds. Something happened, though."

Eddie stiffens, "what?"

"He called me dad. Twice," Buck says, nervous of what reaction he would receive, "and a kid called him a freak but he handled it."

"He called you dad?" Eddie smiles brightly.

"Yeah, twice," Buck smiles too.

"Well, I think we know how he feels about us, then," Eddie chuckles and kisses Buck again.

"Dad!" Christopher says upon seeing Eddie. He stands, with the help of Philip and rushes over to the couple. Eddie picks him up with a bright smile.

"You have fun with Buck?" Eddie asks softly. Christopher whispers something in his ears, something that Buck can't hear. Eddie starts laughing. He turns back to Buck, "he just told me he called you dad and wants to know if it's okay."

"Yeah, Chris. It's more than okay, buddy," Buck says with a smile as Eddie puts the boy back down.

Christopher hugs Buck goodbye before turning and hugging Margaret and Philip as well. Eddie kisses Buck goodbye, hugs Margaret-she kind of ambushed him-and shakes Philip's hand. The father and son soon leave the apartment, Eddie carrying Chris down as they talk about their days. Buck watches from his door until he can no longer see them, a smile glued to his face.
