When the next week rolled around, the Monday following the blowout of a weekend, Stevie found herself packing her bags to head to her other home in Paradise Valley while visiting her parents there.
Robert would make his way into his home after work, noticing dinner was ready although it was already in Tupperware containers and just the stove light was on while nobody was to be found, so he figured he would make his way upstairs for a shower before deciding on eating.
As he got closer, he could hear faint rock and roll getting louder and then he entered to see that not only was the closet doors open, but the light within her walk-in closet was on, the dressers drawers were open and she had a suitcase on the bed with clothes sprawled out all over.
"Hey," he acknowledged his wife who was standing in the middle of the bedroom with a glass of wine cradled in her hand with the other folded into herself.
Her focus easily shifted and she looked over at him with a faint smile.
"Hey, how was work?" she wondered.
"Good, just long... There was a leaking pipe on one of the properties we've been working on so instead of coming home around four, here I am at eight..." he took his jacket off. "I had to drive all the way to Bumfuck Egypt and back and the traffic was so bad."
"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that," she sympathized, taking a sip. "Did it at least get fixed then?"
"For the time being, but we had to order materials..." he tossed his jacket down and then plopped on the bench at the foot of the bed.
"I can heat you up some dinner. I left everything out because I figured you'd eventually get home..."
"I was gonna jump in the shower really quick, but that would be great... I'm exhausted."
"I'd imagine after the day you had," she agreed. "But don't worry, I'll bring it up, I need a refill anyway," she winked, before turning around to leave the room.
Robert laid back in bed and he sighed as he fought the urge to shut his eyes then and there.
When she returned, she had not only a plate of food for him, but a cold beer and another glass of wine for herself.
"Here, hon," she walked over, handing him his things before taking her glass of wine to her bedside table.
"Thanks," he kind of mumbled, taking everything from her very gratefully, but started eating in silence since he was so tired.
She went right back to working on her task since her tiny break gave her somewhat of motivation to at least finish.
With a full mouth of food, "What's all this anyway?" he gestured back to her things.
Although he had been taken by all of her things on the bed, his main concern was how he was going to squeeze into bed amongst all of her piles of clothes.
"I brought some clothes from studio, did the laundry and I'm just packing..." she took her open suitcase off the bed in order to put it on the floor and she picked up the pile of clothing and moved it from the bed to the bench he was on.
"For...?" he lingered.
"For my trip... By the way, considering we had a little more at hand, I came up with a better plan. Jeffrey and Nicholas are gonna come with me this month, Shannon's gonna go with you in July when I leave for tour that way you and Shannon can be here for work and be back by the end of August for school and all that."
He semi nodded.
"I know you're tired and I'm probably talking too much, but..." she shrugged. "I'll take your plate... Why don't you go shower and get comfy?"
