By the time Stevie had finished her show, showed up to dinner for the sake of appearance and everything else, it was one big sigh of relief to get back to her room and wash her face of the makeup she had had on all day because it just meant her tour was finally over.
The most exciting part of her day was laying eyes on Lindsey after having spent almost two weeks away from him; it had become so abnormal to be apart.
"Hey, look at you," he grinned, rubbing her stomach gently as he leaned forward to kiss her.
"Hi," she smiled in return, mumbling gently against his lips as she reached out to hug him firmly. "I'm so happy to see you."
He could tell by her tone how down she was; between the situation with Shannon, finishing her tour and overall just being hormonal due to her pregnancy.
She was all emotions.
"Congratulations on yet another successful tour..." he mentioned, hoping to relieve some of her tension by just being light hearted.
"I can't believe it... I felt like I was beginning to slow down," she pulled away, shaking her head as she let her hand swipe her tummy. "I'm starting to feel this a lot now. Y'know, I had Nicholas in my thirties and it was really hard on both of us so doing this again, in my forties..." she lingered with a small laugh.
"At least you're healthy," he assured.
"Yeah, but being in good health doesn't change my age. It's a miracle I'm pregnant, carrying to term and all despite my past health."
"Sounds like you've been thinking a lot."
She smirked.
"I was thinking about when I first got pregnant with Jeffrey, how it was obviously a surprise. Robert and I were so scared shitless and excited because we knew it would prompt us to get married..."
He smiled, following along with her story.
"Then I remembered, of course when I told him I was pregnant again, with Shannon..." she paused. "That got me thinking, my thoughts wandered far. I got back to when I was pregnant with Nicholas, told Robert... We were so shocked that time. And then I was just thinking about you, your reaction, what kind of dad you'll be. All the things..."
"Well, I hope I'm a good dad in your thoughts," he smiled, pulling her closer.
"Of course. In my thoughts, you're a great dad. In real life, you'll be amazing. I know it," she rested her hand to the side of his face, allowing the pad of her thumb to swipe below his eye, looking straight into his ocean blues as she did so.
"I'm just glad I get to do this all with you. I never thought in a million years we'd be back together, reverting back to our youth and starting over, getting to do things the right way, you know?"
She nodded.
"I don't mean that you're husband and kids weren't right for you, but..." he paused and sighed, looking at her confidently.
"I know exactly what you mean, honey, don't worry," she nodded, pressing her lips to his. "Besides, if things were still on going and this was Robert's baby, I get the feeling it would be a more volatile situation since we had pulled away so much since Jeff had left and I was already displaced before that..."
He nodded, thinking back to his conversation with her son.
"Were you able to rest enough?" she then wondered.
"Yeah," he nodded. "I'm ready when you are... But before we go, I just wanted to let you know that I talked to Jeff today."
"Your brother?" she wondered.
