Sitting on the edge of the examining table, Stevie swung her legs lightly as Lindsey stood at her side; the both of them simply waiting for Dr. Arthur to finish writing on the piece of paper in front of him.
He then turned and he smiled as he pulled the small flashlight out of his lab coat pocket.
She stopped swinging her legs and simply crossed one over the other as he approached her.
"Follow my finger," he asked, lifting her eyelid just slightly.
She reacted easily and did as asked; looking both the left and right, up and down.
"Your eyes look perfect. Very different from the last scan we did..." he backed up and patted her knee. "Your blood pressure is normal."
"That's a relief," Lindsey stated, rubbing her hand.
"I want you to continue taking the blood pressure meds. Go easy on the alcohol and caffeine intake, other than that, you're good to go, honey."
"I appreciate it," she slid off the edge of the bed and she gestured for a hug.
He embraced her, patting her back gently. "Take care of yourself, sweetie. I don't want to see you in here again..." he smirked as he pulled away.
She grinned.
"Your file is this thick," he gestured an inch with his fingers. "Every time I see you, it gets bigger."
"I promise, no more accidents for the time being," she assured.
"Next time I see you, it should be because you're having a check-up, not a crisis."
She smirked.
"She's not the easiest to get in for a check-up, so please, stay on her," he leaned in, shaking Lindsey's hand.
"I'll do my best. It's not exactly my ship to run," he smirked, sliding an arm around her waist to pull her in.
"I'm gonna check on Kristen and the baby---I think Robert was gonna stay," he lingered. "At least till her mother came, but I'm not sure. Are you guys gonna stay?"
"I'd like to see my grandson one more time before I go," she winked. "But other than that, I think I'd much rather go for a walk and enjoy having my vision back... I can't wait to see my kids," she shook her head. "I can actually see them."
"I still want you to take it easy the next few weeks, Stephanie. I mean it," he assured. "Walks are fine, but no touring."
"Oh, believe me... I won't be touring for a while," she patted the side of his arm. "I appreciate everything though."
"My pleasure. Other than that, you're free to go. You don't need to sign anything," he assured, taking off to get back the patients on his routine that evening.
Stevie let off a sigh as soon as she was alone with Lindsey and she turned to face him, smiling softly.
"Well, would you look at the glimmer in your eyes..." he swiped her hair back, pulling her closer to himself. "So beautiful..."
"Ah, you know they only glimmer like this when I get to look into yours. I was so scared I'd never see you again... Literally," she arched her brow, swiping his handsome face. "Every bad thought came to mind and I'm so grateful none of it came true."
"We were all pretty worried but at the same time, we all knew it wouldn't be permanent. Why would you, Miss Optimistic, doubt anything for a second?"
She shook her head. "I'm not always optimistic in my head... I'm a mother, of course I have bad thoughts at times. Since having that bad feeling about Jeffrey, I allowed my gut to grow a bit weak. This morning when I got up, I knew something was gonna happen and it's the first time I've trusted my gut since everything happened. Everybody else was so optimistic about my vision, it was my turn to worry..." she shrugged.
