The next few months would roll by steadily, giving the entire family time to get back into a routine after dealing with such a devastating situation.
Shannon and Damon had begun living comfortably as boyfriend and girlfriend, and thus, he hadn't gotten deployed nor any heads up about deployment so they had hope he'd remain home at least till the following year.
Nicholas and Grace were simply getting through yet another school year of A.P. and Honors classes---getting their grades and G.P.A. as high as possible for the sake of getting into a good college; both of them had their minds set on U.S.C.
Robert was doing everything he possibly could to make Kristen comfortable since she was alone and that was for the simple fact that he didn't want his grandchild to lack in any way. For that, he never stayed too far; if he wasn't working his business in California, he was in New York handling that chain, but he was little by little making more time to stay in California, living in the same condominium where Kristen was; it had been the ones himself and Jeffrey had been working on and moved her into in December the year before. It was easy enough for the contractor to get a place in the same place he worked so diligently on, but it also put him closer to Kristen if she should ever need anything.
Meantime, Stevie and Lindsey were raising their daughter---thriving on life as it came without obstacles for the most part. It wasn't always perfect, but it certainly beat other things. While they took care of Lily, they did constantly visit Kristen and Jeffrey Jr., allowing the babies to interact---allowing the single mother a break when they could because at the end of the day, they were all a lot closer than their initial conceptions.
Even though circumstances were strange, Lindsey still adored Jeffrey Jr. and was very much like a grandfather to the baby considering Robert was more like a father to his grandson.
"Lindsey, come here!" she shouted from the nursery, looking at her little girl with a smile as she adjusted the yarn like wig on her head.
That alone had been a battle as the baby kept pulling it off of her head, much more enticed with it than she was wanting to wear it.
"What's wrong?" he wondered, entering the room with ease---though a sense of worry to his tone.
"Nothing, look," she lifted Lily out of her crib, displaying the costume she had put on her. "Ask daddy what he thinks of your outfit, my love," she placed her on her hip and kissed her head.
"Da!" the baby waved her arms around, clearly reaching out for the blue-eyed man.
Chuckling, "Look at you! What a precious little Raggedy Ann," he smirked, pulling her into his grasp.
She once again pulled that wig off.
"She's not having it," Stevie smirked, chucking the wig into the crib for the meantime. "Add a little bow, I think it's perfect," she smiled, swiping the eighth month old's face.
"With or without a bow, she's perfect," he pressed a kiss to her head. "If she's not keeping that wig on, I doubt she'll keep a clip in her hair."
The blonde grinned.
"So, what are you gonna be for Halloween?" he wondered, definitely screwing with her since he knew better.
"Witch," she shrugged, hand landing on his shoulder.
"I know that you are, but what are you dressing as?" he then asked.
She smacked him immediately.
He chuckled, "Okay, I'm sorry," he smirked. "I have precious cargo, don't hurt me."
The baby giggled.
"You like that, huh?" Stevie babbled back to the baby. "Mommy hitting daddy is funny."
