As Jeffrey was making his way downstairs to the kitchen, there was a knock at the front door.
He swiftly switched directions and made his way to the entryway instead, opening the door.
"Kristen," he grinned, leaning towards her to peck cheeks with her. "What are you doing here?"
"I thought I'd come by and visit... I kind of need to talk to you about something too," she added.
"Okay, come in," he stepped aside.
Just then, Robert wheeled himself into the dining room from the guest bedroom and he grinned at the sight of the young blonde.
"Hi, there!"
"Hi, how are you?" she walked right over to greet him, pecking cheeks with him.
"I'm doing good. I'm starting to get some feeling in my feet. It's all a work in progress, but getting there," he stated.
"That's so great," she nodded. "I'm so happy to hear that, I know it's been a journey, Jeffrey was telling me about it."
"Yeah..." he lingered. "Well, anyways, what brings you by?" he wondered.
"I just wanted to see how you guys were doing... I also came to talk to Jeff about something."
"Oh, I don't mean to interfere," he assured.
"No worries," she waved off the comment.
"Can I get you something to drink?" Jeffrey then asked.
"Just a water is fine," she assured.
Suddenly, the door kind of slammed open and Shannon barged in a bit angrily.
"Hey, hey, easy..." Robert furrowed his brow. "What's going on with you?"
"I was at Lindsey's," she said in annoyed fashion, that statement alone letting her father know something went wrong.
Kristen's ears perked up as Jeffrey handed her a room temperature water.
"I went to visit because I haven't heard from him and..." she pinched the bridge of her nose, clearly hurt by the interaction.
"Honey, why would you go over there?" Robert asked. "You know he's seeing somebody, why pry?" he wondered.
"Why don't we talk outside?" Jeffrey hinted, knowing his sister needed to vent to their dad.
He had the least bit idea that Kristen had any tie to Lindsey.
"Sure," she agreed, although she was roped into whatever Shannon was going to say about Lindsey.
She then followed the man out of the house.
"I hope your sister is okay," she mentioned.
"Yeah, she's usually got a new boyfriend every week, but I've heard that guy's name a lot more than most," he shrugged.
"We met at the hospital, right?"
"Yeah," he nodded. "Anyways, uh... You wanted to talk to me about something."
"Yes..." she sighed with a small smile. "Could you hold this, please?" she handed him the water bottle as she opened her purse.
He watched her pull an envelope out of her purse.
"Here..." she handed it over, taking the water back.
"What is this?" he smirked.
"Open it," she encouraged.
"Okay," he obeyed, pulling the piece of paper out, unfolding it and reading it.
She watched, simply waiting for his reaction.
