~ Ten Weeks Later ~
Stevie was reaching into her sixth month of pregnancy when they were wrapping up the last of the tour; it was like a God send to be done after it had taken her so long to start up in the first place but then to take a pause in the beginning. It had been stressful, although within the weeks, Lindsey had been at her side, aiding her band in sound, light and anything that had to do with taking focus off of her stomach.
As she approached her 27th week of pregnancy, she was definitely showing but with all of her many layers of chiffon and velvet, she felt it disguised her tummy well.
Plopping down on the bed that evening, Stevie picked up the phone to call her home in Arizona considering Shannon had been there since Thanksgiving.
It had been apart of the plan for her to be in Arizona with her grandparents once Jess encouraged the 22 year old take time to herself to figure out what it was she wanted to do. Although, due to the delays of the accident, instead of taking the fall course, she would be taking the winter course. Her time out of state was just to get everything settled in her home with the help of her grandparents before Christmas, and before her winter classes started.
Throughout the holidays; Halloween, birthdays and Thanksgiving, the Nicks family traveled to and from California to be with the rest of the Walker family to simply compensate for Stevie not being there, especially when she was on tour.
"Hello?"
"Hey, doll... It's me," she sniffled as she cleared her throat.
"Hey, mom. Are okay?" she then furrowed her brow prominently with concern.
"Mhmm, I'm getting a bit of a cold from all the running around and the weather. I'm beat..."
"I bet..."
"Anyways, I was just letting you know my last two shows are at the House of Blues. We just wrapped up this Oregon show, I still have to go to Colorado and Texas, California between those, so it's not worth mentioning... I was gonna head out and call you all in the morning but I'm so tired, we decided we're gonna just stay an extra night before leaving."
"Right," she arched her brow. "You don't sound too good..."
"No, I'm fine. It's just my sinuses mostly because of all the weather change. Either way, it's been a long time since I've toured while pregnant and it's a lot harder this time around... I'm so tired. I'm beginning to get burnt out."
"I would be... Anyways, I figure you're calling to find out if I'll be home any time soon?" she lingered.
"Well, I don't wanna pry, but I would like to see you before Christmas, maybe when I get home," she giggled.
"Yes, I'll be there when you get home."
"I obviously haven't seen any of you, but I know you're gonna be busy once your classes start."
"Yeah, I'm working on it. Grandpa and I are going to the dealership soon so I can get a car... I was able to get my license out here, so once it comes in the mail, I'll be picking out a car and making my way."
"That's good to hear. They didn't give you any trouble when you were getting it?"
"Nope. Because I was sixteen when I got my car impounded and I lost my permit. It was a mandatory one year without and you guys were livid, so I just focused on school, I never got to getting the new permit. Then at nineteen, when I was driving with Scott and Amber, I had no license and was under the influence so that got me the two year thingy... It's been over three years, so they didn't ask me anything... I've never applied for a license out of state, so it was pretty basic. Rules of the road are very different but it wasn't a big deal."
