As the day was beginning to go by, everybody who had been there that morning was back with the addition of Jess and Barbara because Chris and Lori had picked them up from the airport to bring them straight over. Although, Kristen would take off for a little bit while Jeffrey went and got his little brother, returning home with good news; both their father and sister were awake.
Barbara obviously knew about the relationship between Stevie and Lindsey, but what she didn't know was the situation involving her granddaughter and although the family support was necessary, Stevie wasn't exactly ready to delve further into things.
"They're down this way, mom," Lori pointed out, showing her the way to Robert's room as it was the first one and Shannon's was down a couple.
Stevie was seated next to Robert, talking with him about things that they had already discussed with the doctor regarding his lack of mobility in his legs.
Barbara pushed open the door and she grinned softly at the two of them.
"Hi," she whispered, entering slowly.
"Hi, mom," Stevie stood up and she grinned and glanced at her sister in-law. "I'm glad you were able to make it," she assured. "Where's daddy?"
"He's seeing Shannon," she claimed, moving passed her to see her son in-law. "Hi, honey, how are you feeling?" she asked.
"I'm okay, thanks for coming," he replied, unable to tell the truth of what was going on.
"Of course."
"Mom, Lori and I are gonna step out," she claimed, looking at her spouse. "Can I get you anything?" she wondered.
"No, baby, I'm okay, thanks," he waved it off.
She nodded and guided the woman out.
Standing in the corridor, she sighed.
"My mom and dad don't know about the Shannon and Lindsey thing," she whispered. "Lindsey's in there with her and my dad is gonna recognize him..."
"Oh, shit..."
She sighed.
Lindsey then slipped out of Shannon's room.
Stevie looked over at him with a lifted brow.
"Did my dad say anything to you?" she wondered.
"I don't even think he noticed I was there, he went straight to see Shannon and obviously the boys are in there to talk."
"Okay, good," she nodded.
"I'm thinking maybe I should head out," he claimed. "With the kids knowing one story and then your parents knowing me from our youth," he shook his head. "I don't want to cause any problems."
"I understand," she nodded. "I don't want Robert to get mad that you were here either, but um... Maybe tonight, pick me up?"
"Of course," he nodded. "You need to sleep."
She nodded her head.
"Lori, please make sure she eats something," he then asked.
"I'll do my best," her hand landed on the woman's shoulder.
"I'll walk you out," she claimed, making her way to the exit with him. "I have to talk to you..."
Lori went ahead and she made her way to the room again, seeing how things were going, but it wasn't anything much other than chit-chat.
___
Meantime, Stevie had her arm linked through Lindsey's as they walked out of the hospital and into the parking lot.
