Rolling over onto her back after being on her side for so long, the singer finally peeled her eyes open and she sighed as she looked up at the ceiling, quickly realizing she was in her studio and not her house.
The telephone beside the mattress on the floor began ringing.
She sighed heavily as she reached over for it.
"Hello?" he voice was ever so scratchy and raspy.
"Steph, it's me," Robert mentioned.
"What's going on?" she replied, sitting up to simply feel her head spin slightly.
"The airline just called me to tell me the flight has been delayed to tomorrow instead," he explained.
"I'll have Karen rent a plane if it's gonna be this hard for you to get home," she cleared her throat.
"It's not that serious," he smirked, knowing her patience would have never been able to tolerate such toss ups.
"Well, luckily, there's nothing to worry about. Everything happens for a reason... Go with it, I don't want anything bad to happen..."
"I guess you're right..."
"How'd you know I was here?" she then wondered, pinching the bridge of her nose.
"I talked to Shannon last night when she got home and she said you were hanging out with the girls there, so I figured you went to sleep there too..."
"Mm," she mumbled, nodding to herself.
"Anyways, I was just updating you. I talked to Nicholas this morning, I talked to Shannon a bit ago... I'll see you Friday night."
"Sounds good..."
"Stevie, were you drinking last night again?" He knew it was a dumb question to ask, but he wanted to see if she was going to lie.
"What does it matter?" she wondered.
"I'm just asking, you sound terrible."
"Gee, thanks..." she nodded.
He smirked, "When I get there, maybe you'll have a drink with me..."
"We'll catch up," she smirked in return.
He meant it more as a joke, but hearing her tone, he realized she was serious.
"I'll call you if anything else changes," he added. "If not, I'll see you tomorrow."
"Sounds good, baby-- I mean, Rob," she shook her head.
He smirked just before hanging up.
Once she settled the phone on the hook, she pulled the blanket off of herself and she stumbled her way to the living room to see the bottle of vodka on her coffee table.
At that moment, she was deciding what was going to be better; a cup of coffee she had to make or the rest of the vodka right at her disposal.
Ultimately, she made her decision quickly before making her way to the bathroom in order to take a shower and get herself cleaned up for the day considering she passed out the night before without going about her usual nightly routine once again.
While the hot water engulfed her body, her emotions seemed to hit easily and from that moment on, all she could do was cry.
...
When she got home, she pushed open the front door to the sound of utter silence, and although she was aching to see her little girl, she had a pretty good feeling she'd be with her father and so she made her way to the kitchen instead to make herself some coffee.
