cw: overload, panic attack!

~•~

Jake is hiding his face and sitting in the middle of the hallway. It was late at night. He was the only one awake, it was so sudden. He didn't know what to do. He's hyperventilating, his mind growing fuzzier by the second of his rapid breathing.

He lifted his head and flapped his hands in a frantic way. He has absolutely no idea why this overload is happening. It was just so sudden, it hit him like a brick!

Jake felt a hand on his shoulder and he jumped, his breathing getting faster and more panicked. He looked up and saw Johnnie looking at him with concern.

Johnnie sat down next to him and spoke softly. "Hey, it's okay, Jake. Take deep breaths, alright?"

Jake wasn't responding. He lets out a cry in panic, as his hands frantically stim. Trying to calm himself but nothing was working. He was getting close to passing out because he was hyperventilating so much.

Johnnie gently took Jake's hands in his own, trying to calm him down. "It's okay, Jake. You're okay. Just try to slow down your breathing. Breathe with me, alright?"

Jake pulls his hands back, rocking a bit in the hallway as he closes his eyes. Trying to calm down.

Johnnie lets Jake pull away, giving him space. He continues to speak softly. "It's alright, Jake. You're safe. I'm here for you. Just take your time. Keep your eyes closed and focus on your breathing."

Jake slowly started to calm down, the rocking back and forward was starting to help him.

Johnnie watched as Jake started to calm down. He smiled softly, feeling relieved that he was able to help.

"That's it, Jake. You're doing great. Keep taking deep breaths and rocking. You're safe and you're in control."

After a few minutes, Jake slowly stopped. He opened his eyes. "What the fuck.." He trailed off, his head slumped onto Johnnie's shoulder.

Johnnie wrapped an arm around Jake, pulling him close. "Hey, hey, it's okay. I'm here for you. Do you want to talk about it?"

"I think I just had a sensory overload," Jake replied, "I'm trying to think about it earlier, what caused me to panic about it now.. I don't remember.."

Johnnie nodded, listening to Jake. "Sensory overloads can be triggered by many things. Sometimes they can come out of nowhere, like what happened to you. It's okay if you don't remember what caused it. The important thing is that you're feeling better now. Do you need anything? Water, or anything to eat?"

"Water." Jake replied, nodding his head. "I'll be here, bring it to me would you..? Maybe a sandwich too..?"

Johnnie nodded again, getting up and heading to the kitchen to grab some water and a sandwich for Jake.

He returned a few minutes later with a glass of water and a sandwich on a plate, handing them to Jake. "Here you go, buddy. Eat up, and take it easy for the rest of the night, alright?"

Jake slowly ate the sandwich and drank the water in the hallway. He felt himself starting to get his strength back.

Johnnie sat down next to him again, keeping him company as he ate and rested. He checked the time on his phone. "It's pretty late. Do you want to go to bed? I can stay with you if you want."

Jake sets the finished dishes down. "I'm gonna go to sleep, I'm fine now. Thank you.. I'll be in my room."

Johnnie smiled, feeling relieved that Jake was feeling better. "Alright, I'll leave you to it. If you need anything, don't hesitate to come get me, okay? Have a good night, Jake."

"You too, Johnnie. thank you." Jake replied as he goes into his room and shuts the door. He sighed once he made it inside.

Johnnie watched as Jake went into his room and closed the door. He stayed in the hallway for a few more minutes, just in case Jake needed anything.

After a while, he decided to go to his own room and get some rest as well.

Later that night,

Jake couldn't sleep still, he kept tossing and turning. He felt.. lonely.

Johnnie was woken up by the sound of Jake tossing and turning in the room next door. He got up and quietly made his way to Jake's room, gently knocking on the door. "Jake, are you still awake?"

"Yeah," Jake replied as he got up, walking to the door. He opened it to see Johnnie. "sorry, for waking you"

Johnnie shook his head, smiling softly. "Don't worry about it, I wasn't really sleeping anyway. Is everything okay? You seem restless."

"I just.. well.." Jake sighed, "Can you sleep with me?" He asked, a bit embarrassed.

Johnnie was taken aback by the question, but he didn't hesitate to agree. "Sure, of course I can. Let me just grab my pillow and blanket."

He quickly went to his room and grabbed his pillow and blanket before returning to Jake's room.

The two got into the bed, ending up sharing the extra blanket and pillows.

Johnnie made himself comfortable in the bed, making sure there was enough space for both of them. He turned to face Jake, looking at him with concern. "Are you feeling a little less lonely now? I'm here for you, you know."

Jake nods, wrapping his arms around Johnnie. "..Yeah, I'm getting sleepy now.. I just think I needed a cute emo boy in my bed tonight." He jokingly whispered.

Johnnie chuckled, blushing a bit at the compliment. He wrapped his arms around Jake as well, holding him close. "Well, you're lucky to have me then. I'll keep you company and make sure you have sweet dreams, okay?"

"Mhm.." Jake hums as he falls asleep.

Johnnie watches as Jake falls asleep, smiling softly. He gently strokes Jake's hair, making sure he's comfortable and peaceful.

After a while, Johnnie also drifts off to sleep, holding Jake tightly.
