Johnnie rolls in his bed. The sunlight shining into his face from the window. Making him grunt in annoyance. He slowly opened his eyes and sat up in his bed.

He picks up his phone, clicking it on and seeing today's date.

SUNDAY. JUNE. 16TH. 2024.

A weight hits Johnnie's chest as he sits up. Today is... Father's day.

Johnnie's heart sank as he remembered what day it was. Father's Day was always a difficult day for him, especially since he had lost his own father years ago.

He felt a mix of sadness and guilt wash over him as he sat in his bed, staring at the date on his phone.

"Shit.." Johnnie felt a wave of depression hit him like a brick. He sighed and puts his phone back down. Getting up and grabbing some clothes for a shower.

As he is showering, he is crying as the water is hitting his body. He didn't want anyone to hear him being upset, so he cried in the shower.

Once he finished his shower, he sniffled and turned the knobs. Stepping out and getting dressed. Applying his makeup and doing his hair.. as if it was any other day.

Johnnie finished getting dressed and took a deep breath, trying to compose himself. He walked out of the bathroom and made his way to the kitchen, where he saw Jake sitting at the table with a cup of coffee in his hand.

Jake looked up and saw the look on Johnnie's face, immediately noticing that something was wrong. "Hey," he said softly, "Are you okay?"

"Yeah, dude." Johnnie nods as he walks to the fridge. He opened it and took a can of Dr.Pepper out. He cracked the can of soda and takes a sip.

Jake could tell that Johnnie was lying. He knew his friend well enough to see through his act. "You're a terrible liar, you know that?" Jake said with a small smile. "I can tell something's bothering you. Talk to me."

"I said I'm fine, Jake." Johnnie sneered instead of his usual nice response. As he walked himself back to his room, slamming his door.

Jake sighed as he watched Johnnie storm off to his room. He knew that Johnnie was trying to push him away, but he wasn't going to let that happen.

He got up from the table and followed Johnnie to his room, knocking gently on the door. "Johnnie, please let me in. I know something's wrong, and I want to help you."

"Go away!" Johnnie shouted. He needed some space, desperately. Internally hoping his best friend would understand for now.

Jake was taken aback by Johnnie's harsh tone, but he wasn't going to give up that easily. "I'm not leaving until you let me in. I care about you, and I'm not going to let you deal with whatever this is alone. We're in this together, remember?"
