For the past few months of Jake and Johnnie's new romantic relationship, Johnnie still hasn't healed from his ex-boyfriend Carrington's abuse.

Jake noticed that Johnnie hadn't fully healed yet. He knew that the emotional and physical scars from the abuse were still there, even though they had been together for a while.

Jake gently squeezed his arms around Johnnie, giving him a reassuring hug from behind.Johnnie jumped in surprise. He looked anxious for a second, squirming a bit.

Jake noticed Johnnie's jump and felt a pang of concern. He loosened his grip a little, not wanting to make him uncomfortable.

"Hey, hey... it's just me," Jake said softly, trying to soothe him. "I didn't mean to startle you."

"Sorry!" Johnnie looked up and noticed it was Jake. "Don't be mad at me, i swear i knew it was you.. fuck, im sorry."

"No, no, it's okay," Jake reassured him, gently rubbing his arms. "I'm not mad at all. You have nothing to apologize for."

He moved his hands to Johnnie's shoulders, giving them a gentle squeeze. "You don't have to be sorry for being a little jumpy, okay?"

Johnnie nodded as he turned around. Looking up at Jake. "You won't hurt me like he did, right..?" The question was so sudden.

Jake's expression softened as he looked into Johnnie's eyes. He could see the vulnerability and fear in them.

"Of course I won't hurt you," Jake said firmly, his voice filled with sincerity. "I promise you, I will never lay a hand on you in anger or aggression. I would never, ever hurt you like that."

Johnnie sniffled as he stepped back, "I'm sorry for being like this.." He covered his face. "Please don't hurt me."

It was like he was still in the past.

Jake's heart broke as he saw Johnnie step back and cover his face, fear and vulnerability in his voice.

He took a step closer to him, speaking gently but firmly. "Johnnie, listen to me. I would never, ever hurt you. I don't care how much you apologize, I don't care if you think you're 'like this'. I love you, and I will always be here to protect you and keep you safe. You're safe with me, okay?"

Johnnie uncovered his face. "I'm sorry," he apologized again. Since the abuse, he's been more overly apologizing and anxious about everything he says.

Jake shook his head, gently taking Johnnie's hands in his. "Stop apologizing, please. You don't need to apologize for being anxious or scared. I understand that you're still healing from what happened with Carrington, and it's going to take time. But I'm here to support you through it all, okay? You don't have to be sorry for feeling the way you do."

Johnnie flinched when Jake held his hands, he tears up as he cried out. "Why do you love me..?"

Jake's heart ached as Johnnie flinched and cried out. He gently cupped Johnnie's face in his hands, wiping away his tears with his thumbs."Because you're incredible, Johnnie,"

Jake said softly. "You're smart, funny, kind, and you have the biggest heart of anyone I've ever met. You're beautiful inside and out, and I'm lucky to have you in my life. I love you because you're you, and nothing is going to change that."
