For the past few weeks, Jake has been masking his autism. He's starting to feel burnout from it, but he feels like he HAS to mask in front of people.

Johnnie and Jake have been doing nonstop business events for the past few weeks, and it is having Jake mask more and more.

At the moment, Johnnie smiled and he tells him about a party happening tonight.

Jake's smile faded and he started to feel anxious. He was already exhausted from pretending to be "normal" for so long,

and the thought of having to mask even more at a party made him anxious. But he didn't want to let Johnnie down, so he tried to act excited. He forced a smile and said.
"A party? That sounds fun."

Johnnie noticed Jake's anxiousness and immediately felt bad. He turned to him, concerned in his eyes.
"Are you sure you're up for it? I don't want you to feel uncomfortable."

"Oh, no! I'm good, dude." Jake replied, 'smiling' at Johnnie, his masking was so bad he was even masking in front of Johnnie now.

Johnnie nods.
"Alright, if you say so. But if you change your mind or need a break, just let me know, okay? I don't want you to feel overwhelmed or anything."

"Oh nahhhh, I'll be fine!" Jake nodded, getting up and heading upstairs so he could get ready for the party.

Johnnie watched as Jake went upstairs to get ready, still feeling a little worried.

The two got ready for the party. Jake was talking to himself in the mirror as he was saying, "It's just another thing, it's fine, it's okay." he jumps in surprise when he hears Johnnie call for him.

Johnnie walked up to Jake's room and knocked on the door."Jake, you ready to go? We don't want to be late."He called out, waiting for a response.

Jake opened the door. "I'm ready!" He said, feeling the mask slip on with upsetting ease. He walked past Johnnie and headed downstairs.

Johnnie followed Jake downstairs, noticing that he seemed a little off but not saying anything. He didn't want to push him to talk about it if he didn't want to.

As they walked to the Uber car, Johnnie glanced over at Jake."You look nice."

"Thanks," Jake muttered as he got inside of the Uber with Johnnie.

Johnnie got into the back seat with Jake and buckled up. He could sense that Jake was still feeling a bit off, but he didn't want to ruin the mood by bringing it up.He leaned back in his seat and tried to lighten the mood.

"You know, I heard this party is gonna be crazy. I hope you're ready for some wild times." Johnnie says.

"Oh yeah? How crazy?" Jake asked as the uber was driving towards the location of the party.

Johnnie chuckled and shrugged.
"I don't fucking know, man. I heard there's gonna be a lot of alcohol, music, and people dancing. The usual stuff. a fuck-ton though."

Jake internally cursed in his head, thinking about already all the sensories.

Johnnie noticed Jake's face and frowned slightly. He could tell that he was tense, but he didn't want to assume anything.

He reached out and placed a hand on Jake's shoulder, giving it a reassuring squeeze."Hey, don't worry about it. If it gets too much, we can always leave, okay? I don't want you to feel uncomfortable or anything."
