Zander could hear the music, and the cheers. Zander had done figure skating since he was young, it was one of his passions. Now at 16 he did it semi professional. He could see his family and friends in the crowd after that which was honestly a bit embarrassing. But he could see his coach giving him the eye. A look he knew all to well from the coach, disappointment.
He could see the faces of the judges, and they seemed to be satisfied with his performance. But that didn't matter, if coach wasn't happy, he'd have more intense training, which he didn't particularly want ontop of school and homework.
So he tried harder. He was pushing himself, and he knew it, trying too hard to make the best possible performance he could. His eyes overactively scanned his surroundings. From his footing, to his friends, to his family, to the judges, to the coach and repeat.
He was nearing the end of the performance, and the scowl hadn't left coaches face, he tried to swallow down his nerves, as he skated, and jumped into a spin, which he'd done numerous times before.
However, he was more focused on his coach than the routine itself. As his blades touched the floor, he gasped as he immediately fell back and bashed the back of his head on the thick, hard ice.
He heard a collection of gasps, but he couldn't move. Why couldn't he move? His ears began to ring, as he stared up at the lights of the stadium.
He could feel a sharp pain on the back of his head, he couldn't breathe on his own. Why couldn't he breathe?
Coach. Coach was going to kick him from the program. He knew it..! He tried to get up but his body wouldn't move.
He felt his eyes grow heavy, as he fell unconscious. The last thing he saw was the medics skating over.
When he next awoke, he was on a stretcher, he could briefly make out through his blurry vision his mother, and some other people around. But he couldn't speak. Couldn't move. That same ringing in his ears.
He tried to speak, anything, to try make sense of what was happening, but before he could, his eyes fell heavy again and he was out.

Shannon sat by the hospital bed, gently pushing his hair behind his ear, a coma.. he was really in a coma.. She was angry. Not at him, never at him. But at that stupid coach.. She knew right from the start of the competition something would go wrong, she knew there was something up with that coach, but.. for him to kick Zander off the team for 'failing' ?? Shannon knew it'd devastate her poor baby.
She sighed as she looked over the bandages on his head, he had a concussion. She didn't know why she wasn't crying, maybe she's too shocked. She still remembered the deathly silence of the rink when he fell.. and didn't get back up..
She held his hand tight. "You're taking a break from competing when you're awake..-" she muttered.
Though she knew he was stubborn and wouldn't listen anyways.
