Chapter 435 Evan's VisitIndeed, when Harry mentioned Sirius, the pupils of Vernon's small eyes suddenly contracted with fear.
"Very well! You can go to this cursed and stupid so-called World Cup. Write and tell those Weasleys to come pick you up, understood? I don't have time to be driving you all over the country. And you can spend the rest of the summer vacation there," said Vernon. "You might want to write to your godfather and let him know you're going. By the way, write a letter to the Mason boy and tell them I support your contacts with him."
"I know!" said Harry happily.
He turned around and headed towards the living room door, fighting the urge to jump in the air and shout for joy.
Out in the hallway, he almost collided with Dudley, who had been lurking behind the door, clearly hoping to hear Harry being scolded.
He was surprised to see the wide smile on Harry's face.
"That was an excellent breakfast, wasn't it?" Harry asked. "I feel very full, don't you?"
Laughing at Dudley's terrified look, Harry bounded up the stairs three at a time and leaped back into his room.
There, Hedwig was waiting for him with Evan's reply.
On the roof, a small owl was flying around the ceiling lamp, which was Ron's Pig.
After delivering Evan's letter, Pig followed Hedwig to Harry with another letter from Ron.
"Calm down!" said Harry.
Upon seeing him, the tiny owl swooped down, chirping madly.
Harry first looked at the letter delivered by Pig. It was Ron's scribbled handwriting.
"'We're coming for you whether the muggles like it or not, you can't miss the World Cup, only Mum and Dad think it's better if we pretend to ask permission first. If they say yes, send Pig immediately with your response, and we'll come pick you up at five o'clock on Sunday.'"
"Friday afternoon," Harry checked the calendar, a day and a half left.
Just as Pig was flitting around, Hedwig landed softly beside Harry.
She seemed to be showing Pig what a true owl messenger should do, and her demeanor was surprisingly serene.
Hedwig extended her leg and let Harry untie Evan's reply attached to it.
Then she pecked Harry gently, chirped in a noble gesture, and flew back to her cage.
Evan's handwriting was very neat. First, he explained the dream and suggested that Harry practice Occlumency.
Then he mentioned they would come to the Dursleys' house tomorrow afternoon and leave with Harry for the Burrow.
Harry didn't know what Occlumency was and looked strangely at Evan's advice.
"Empty your mind every night before bed?" Harry read perplexed.
He glanced back at Evan's letter to make sure he wasn't mistaken.
"Empty your mind?" Harry couldn't see how that would help.
Then he immediately noticed the next content. Evan and Hermione were coming tomorrow afternoon.
Harry decided not to dwell on the strange dream and Evan's odd suggestion for now, and the great joy continued.
All he had to do was endure the Dursleys for one more day, and he could leave the house.
Perhaps this would be the last time he returned here.
When Sirius recovered, he could go live with him and get rid of the Dursleys forever.
Harry smiled. He took his quill, grabbed a fresh piece of parchment, and wrote, "Ron, all good, the muggles say I can go. See you at five o'clock tomorrow. Can't wait!"
He folded the letter very small, and the tiny owl hopped excitedly in its place.
Harry struggled to tie the letter to its leg. As soon as it was secured, the owl took off.
It shot out the window and disappeared in the blink of an eye.
At the same time, Harry wrote a letter to Evan and Hermione. The content was similar, explaining the day.
"Hedwig, please go back to Evan's house," Harry paused, "Then wait for me at Ron's, understood?"
Hedwig affectionately pecked his finger, then, with a soft flapping of wings, unfurled her large wings and soared out the open window.
Harry observed her until she vanished from his sight, then he crawled under his bed, tore up the loose floor, and retrieved a large piece of cake.
He sat on the floor eating it, savoring the happiness that engulfed him.
He had cake to enjoy, and Dudley had nothing but grapefruit.
It was a bright summer day, he would leave Privet Drive tomorrow, his scar felt perfectly normal again, and he was going to see Sirius and watch the Quidditch World Cup.
In those moments, it was hard for Harry to worry about anything, and not even Voldemort could diminish his joy.
The next morning, Evan and Hermione packed their bags early.
With the help of Dobby, the house-elf, their things were swiftly sent to the Burrow of the Weasleys.
Evan and Hermione had planned to walk to the Dursleys' house, but their father insisted on driving them.
A little after two in the afternoon, much like the dinner two years ago, Mr. Mason's car gently came to a stop in front of number 4 Privet Drive.
It looked exactly the same as before, just a bit more worn.
"Here we are!" whispered Evan.
"Is this Harry's aunt and uncle's house?" Hermione asked curiously, it was her first time being there.
Over the past few years, she had heard Harry recount countless stories about the Dursleys.
Hermione knew what kind of people they were and how they treated wizards.
She scrutinized the house carefully for Harry, but she saw nothing.
Harry didn't come out, but the Dursleys were waiting outside early. They came out to greet Mr. Mason and were extremely courteous.
Mr. Dursley looked very odd in his best suit with a reluctant smile on his face.
Beside him stood Harry's aunt Petunia, whose expression was not as friendly.
"Welcome, Mr. Mason!" Mr. Dursley said, looking somewhat unnatural at Evan and Hermione. "It is a great honor to have you visit us again. Please come in for an afternoon cup of tea."
Some polite remarks were exchanged before they went inside.
As Evan observed, the house was tidy, and the furniture was gleaming and polished.
However, there were more and more toys and other objects related to Dudley, but there was no sign of Harry's existence.
"Where's Harry?" Evan asked. There were still more than two hours left before the agreed time! "Oh, he's in his room upstairs!" Mr. Dursley said with distaste, "You may go fetch him."
To him, it was the worst to have three young wizards gathering in his own home. However, looking at Mr. Mason's face, he did not convey this sentiment.
